We seek a skilled paralegal to join our legal intellectual property (IP) team. Our first preference would be to have the paralegal based out of our Longmont, CO site, but we are also open for the paralegal to be based out of our Bloomington, MN site. As a valued member of the IP team, you will collaborate closely with and support attorneys, patent agents, other paralegals, and other legal department personnel. You will report to Seagate's Managing Counsel, IP.
About the role - you will:
Generate and maintain reports regarding Seagate's patents
Earn the trust and cooperation of inventors and other internal clients, and educate internal clients about patent and other IP processes
Prepare, revise, and finalize IP transactional documents such as NDAs
Support database auditing and data verification processes, and instruct and engage outside counsel and other IP vendors
Provide occasional support on administrative responsibilities and special projects, such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, IP analyses, IP research, and IP litigation
About you:
Attention to detail, and show initiative to take on projects and drive them to completion
Communicate effectively with senior internal and external personnel
Successfully collaborate with peers across multiple sites to produce results
Demonstrate an ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Proven time management skills and an ability to prioritize and use available resources
Receive delegated authority and make limited decisions within that authority
Welcome change and innovate IP processes accordingly
Identify issues with IP processes and recommend and implement solutions
Your experience includes:
US and non-US patent docketing and USPTO e-filing in a corporate or law firm setting
MS Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint: must be able to perform basic edit tracking functions, create and utilize basic formulas in Excel, and create PowerPoint presentations
Basic understanding of IP laws and processes
Ability to identify patent preparation and prosecution issues for resolution and track such issues to conclusion
Proven ability to support and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
Proven ability to apply policies and procedures to solve routine issues
Paralegal certificate
You might also have:
FoundationIP (FIP) or other IP management systems
US and non-US trademark docketing
Contracting processes
Patent award programs
Patent annuity payment processing
Outside counsel and IP vendor invoice
Budget support and analysis
Information technology industry work
The estimated base salary range for this position: $26.44 - $37.82 per hour. Actual salary range is based on the regional labor market of the role in the geography in which the position is located based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Location:
Hybrid work structure based out of our Longmont, CO or Bloomington, MN site. Preference for paralegal to be located in Longmont, CO, Hybrid work expectations are a minimum of 1 day a week in the office.
