The UW Finance Transformation Program (UWFT) is a $270M initiative to replace the University's financial systems with an integrated system to manage the full suite of financial transactions and reporting needs in the UW system - to include academic, administrative, and healthcare. UWFT will fundamentally change the processes and tools that the University employs to track, spend, collect, manage, and report University finances in excess of $7B in annual revenues, resulting in more timely and actionable information for leadership. Among the UW's highest administrative priorities, this multi-year initiative is one of the largest finance system projects in Washington State and the outcome of the program will be highly visible at all levels of the University and the state.

The Integration Engineer fulfills a key role in supporting the University's implementation and operation of an enterprise-wide Finance solution (Workday). This position designs, implements, supports, and maintains integrations between Workday and internal and external UW information systems to achieve the University's quality and business objectives for Finance.
This position has responsibility to contribute toward ongoing implementations of a large number of integrations with Workday's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) system as well as support those in production. The integrations involve many different systems across a diverse range of internal and external partners.
This position translates Finance requirements into Workday integrations. The Integration Engineer designs, develops, and maintains existing and new interfaces into and out of Workday. This position develops solutions using a standard, quality-driven approach.
This position identifies and communicates gaps or trade-offs in designs across technical and non-technical audiences using effective communication skills. The Integration Engineer participates in recommending the most effective and efficient integration design architecture. This position also supports, troubleshoots and documents integration issues as they arise with the goal of maintaining a stable and robust Workday system.
Building and Testing of Integrations. This position builds Workday Finance integrations. This includes:
Becoming knowledgeable on the integration configuration for common and advanced solutions within the Workday development and configuration environment.
Influencing the decision-making process for configuring and developing integration solutions considering short and long term goals.
Utilizing a version control process and toolset for managing development, enhancements and migration of Workday integrations across tenants.
Contributing to development of a regression test capability for validating cloud-based integrations during business process configuration changes or Workday upgrades.
Pairing and sharing knowledge with other integration engineers.
Support, Maintenance, Troubleshooting. This position provides Tier 2 support for integration issues for both internal and external systems. This includes:
Participating in monitoring, response and root-cause-analysis for emergent issues.
Providing subject matter expertise to the ISC for integration related issues.
Monitoring overall health of Workday integrations.
Tracking internal and external vendor changes and maintaining documentation to reflect current state.
Improving performance, error handling, and monitoring of integrations.
Working with various support tools to monitor and enhance integrations like Service Now, and Kainos.
Integrations Strategy, Analysis and Design. This position contributes to architecture strategy, analysis and design for delivery of integrations. This includes:
Analyzing business requirements for Finance integrations to/from other systems and translating these into Workday integrations.
Discussing integration solutions with technical experts of downstream systems.
Communicating the process of design, build, test and deployment of the integrations.
Providing design support for system owners as they assess the impact on their systems.
Creating integration design documents.
Contributing content towards having an accurate record of all design decisions.
Ensuring the integrations are configured following vendor guidelines and according to the requirements in design documents.
Reviewing and contributing to the overall testing strategy and plan.
Participating in the design and running of end-to-end tests of the system.
Assessing, influencing and providing solutions to issues that arise with integrations during testing.
Enhancing existing integrations to the needs of new and revised requirements.
Identify and articulate issues for escalation.
Alert integration supervisor when change requests are necessary to achieve outcomes of integration solutions.
Collaborate and communicate across organizational units.
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience working on increasingly complex projects.
Experience integrating systems with third-party service vendors.
Demonstrated experience in object-oriented design, modeling, development, and support of object/relational database systems and systems documentation.
Experience with MS SQL Server query design, query optimization, troubleshooting, stored procedure development, T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL or equivalent database management system.
Knowledge of Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) and using web services for consuming, testing and delivering data between systems.
Ability to communicate clearly, in writing and orally, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Demonstrated experience in problem solving and issue resolution within business and technical contexts, including phases of fit-gap analysis, system design and configuration, security design, system integration, testing, training, reporting, requirements tracking, and business process improvement.
Working experience with Workday Integration Cloud Platform, Integration Cloud Connect, APIs, EIBs, Workday Studio, Business Objects, etc.
Experience with Jira, SharePoint or other enterprise tools for managing work and tracking deliverables.
Experience in a large university, large medical center, or other large complex enterprise.
Experience working with a Finance system at a technical level.
Experience representing and/or leading aspects of system development and implementation efforts across a large, decentralized enterprise.
Experience with Financials Systems like Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, NetSuite, Taleo, or other SaaS and On-Premise ERP systems.
Experience working with UW Finance Systems.
Familiarity with network protocols (FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS), data encryption (PGP, SSL, X.509), and secure connections (user name, password, host, port).
Experience gathering requirements from functional experts.
Experience and knowledge working across unit, functional, integration and acceptance testing phases.
Experience contributing to and developing many technical deliverables within large-scale enterprise projects.
Experience designing within a complex data integration environment across multiple platforms, data structures and formats.
Experience acting as a collaborative and supportive member of a team in a dynamic environment.
Familiarity with information security, code management, and data management best practices.
3-4 years of experience with Workday Integrations.
Experience with Workday Studio assembly, components, configuration, and reusable code.
Strong knowledge of Custom Report and Calculated Fields.
Strong knowledge of EIB's Inbound and Outbound functions.
Advance Security knowledge to configure Integration System Security Group and Integration System User and solve any issue regarding data access.
Proficient in REST API, XSLT, Oxygen, Java, MVEL, Soap.
Studio logic, process and sub-processes.
Data delivery formats (CSV, XML, TXT).
