This position reports to the Vice President, Product Life Cycle Sustainment. This is a newly created function within the recently stood up Product Life Cycle Sustainment organization at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI). This position will play a significant role in shaping the future of product support at GA-ASI.
This position will direct the activities of the ILS department and will be responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of ILS strategies, processes, and tools. Other responsibilities will include working with senior leadership in establishing a companywide philosophy and approach to sustainment that delivers maximum readiness and provides the best possible product support outcomes at the lowest life cycle cost, tailored to meet each customer's affordability goals. The position will ensure the GA-ASI enterprise is aligned and integrated across all elements of product support and sustainment to include Supply Support, Maintenance Planning and Management, Packaging, Handling, Storage, & Transportation (PHS&T), Technical Data, Support Equipment, Training, Personnel, Sustaining Engineering, Design Interface, Product Support Management, Facilities, Computer Resources; as well as establish and manage a cross-functional team comprising the above elements of sustainment amongst the functional departments that provide those services including Product Life Cycle Sustainment, Program Management, Manufacturing, Flight Operations, Engineering, Finance, Contracts / Procurement, Strategic Development, Quality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the team that will develop and document processes that govern our approach to Integrated Logistics Support and Life Cycle Sustainment for our military & commercial customers, as well as our own company owned fleet.
Work alongside and actively participate as a member of the Product Life Cycle Sustainment senior leadership team, to include the Senior Director of Product Support Engineering and the Vice President of Field Operations.
Lead the cross functional sustainment Integrated Product Team.
Support strategic development in the areas of international, domestic, and sustainment business growth.
Work with engineering to ensure supportability, specifically reliability & maintainability is designed into our products.
Ensure we field products that are adequately and readily supportable with proper spares, depot repairs, technical data, training, etc.
Ensure we maintain our rapid reaction DNA as we support emerging customer needs.
Determine customer appropriate Product Support Strategies such as Contractor Logistics Support (CLS), Performance Based Logistics (PBL), Transactional, Hybrid, etc..
Work with Programs to develop Life Cycle Sustainment Plan(s) tailored to maximize weapons system readiness & affordability.
Create and maintain a Total Ownership Cost/Life Cycle Cost database, risk analysis process, and decision tool utilizing current and real-time data analytics methods.
Support the development and maturation of the control center to enable holistic fleet management.
Support depot source of repair assignment process with customers.
Develop and maintain the company's PHS&T plan that can be supported with US Government MIL STD and commercial standards.
Ensure well thought out Support Equipment is fielded that meets requirements and is sustainable.
Influence, coordinate, and support the preparation of proposals, business plans, budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract(s), ensuring product support elements are properly addressed.
Ensure technical leadership and excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required management, professional, and technical talent.
Additional Functions: Other duties as assigned or required
Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering, science or a related technical field as well as fifteen or more years of progressively complex program administration experience with at least nine of those years managing programs. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Demonstrates technical expertise and application of ILS principles, concepts, and practice as well as program management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
Must be able to develop solutions to problems that require coordination of technologies across program requirements. Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
