Responsible for the managing, interpreting and communicating medical provider recommendations for employees following injury/illness. Adheres to Mayo Clinic's policies and procedures for disability management and the State and Federal law requirements for disability programs.
Compiles data for review of work related injuries, and ensures the appropriate return to work process for those injured/ill employees. May consult with HR/employee relations/Legal. Acts as a resource to management and employee concerning the disability process.
Has expert knowledge of occupational disability guidelines for comparative analysis of leave durationa. Conducts training/educational classes and provides training to supervisor and managers of disability programs.
Requires Bachelors Degree in Business, Healthcare, Vocational Rehabilitation, or Human Resources field.
Prefer one year experience working knowledge of state and federal legislation of Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and Workers' Compensation. Knowledge of short term disability programs, claims, case management and dispute resolution procedures.
Understanding of HIPAA requirements and applicability to disability claims management. Working knowledge of transitional return to work programs.
Cross functional knowledge of HR.
Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with health care and professionals. Demonstrate ability to function effectively both independently and as a team member Good human relations and communication skills required. Computer knowledge and skills required. Must demonstrate ability to train, assist, and educate employees and supervisors as necessary and to act as ongoing resource.
License or certification
Workers' Compensation Adjusters License preferred not required.
RN Case Manager preferred not required.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2420.00, based on a full-time position.
