Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Department Director and according to established policies and procedures, performs admission and concurrent review of all patients to determine the appropriateness of admission and extended duration reviews. Work is of a confidential nature. Performs other work of the department as required.
Reports to Director of Behavioral Health
1.Performs admission, concurrent and focused review using criteria as determined by current department procedures and recommendations from Utilization Review Committee Severity to determine the medical necessity and appropriateness of admissions and extended stays.
2.Oversees any Peer Review Organization (PRO) requirements.
3.Participates in discharge planning functions.
4.Performs a variety of associated administrative functions in support of utilization review
5.Maintains skills competence, and assumes responsibility for professional development and ongoing education.
6.Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
