The Insurance Verifier associate is responsible for entering, correcting and verifier all patient demographics and financial billing information in the practice management system and patient record.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Print schedule of the day.

  • Call insurance companies and to verify and complete all insurance information and benefits.

  • Enter insurance information in the computer.

  • Handle add-on surgeries in the same manner.

  • Answer the phones.

  • Check if authorization is required by portals or calling insurance.

  • Create verification schedule of coverage for the month.

  • Print daily schedule and confirm all referrals/authorizations have been obtained and patient monetary responsibility is recorded on schedule.

  • Shred all paperwork, which displays private patient information.

  • Translate if applicable to assist at patient calls with any collector, if needed.

  • Work closely with collectors and the supervisors regarding previous account balances, high deductibles (over $500) and special billing circumstances.

  • Attend in-services and feedback sessions for updates on insurance changes, policy modifications, and discussion of current verification issues and goals.

  • Learn and understand the different practice management systems.

  • Assist other departments with any copying, scanning, or other duties as applicable.

Regular and reliable attendance required.

Successful candidate will pass a background check and drug screen.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the field or in a related area required.

  • Knowledge related to Microsoft Excel and Outlook

  • Knowledge related to reading an insurance EOB a plus

Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner. Must be able to work well with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized. High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information. Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as approved in advance.

Responsibilities for this level position include making a high number of outbound phone calls each day to healthcare practitioners, facilities, universities, medical staffing offices, etc., to obtain missing items required to credential healthcare practitioners. This includes reviewing a variety of daily reports to identify practitioner files that need specific action, making outgoing calls, and performing extensive, timely follow up. All work must be accurately documented in the credentialing database and all images must be reviewed and attached to the correct practitioner record. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Prior experience in a call center, hospitality, or telemarketing environment preferred. Strong computer skills is a must, along with the ability to search the internet for additional information and follow up. Must successfully complete system training and score 85% on the post-training test. Will be expected to assist the Team Lead, Manager and Director with other tasks/projects as requested. Compliance with HCA policy and procedure, Federal and State regulatory and accrediting agencies is required. Must have a positive attitude, be a team player, dependable, and professional, and arrive/depart to and from according to scheduled hours. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: * 90% of daily activity will be making phone calls to meet quality and productivity standards * Data entry * Data analysis * Responsible for intake and tracking of all correspondence and maintaining documentation as requested * Pursue incomplete or missing information * Review provider files for accuracy, completeness of information, and identify/resolve any deficiencies * Primary source verification of select items EDUCATION * High school graduate or GED required * Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred EXPERIENCE * 2 years previous office experience including data entry, typing and basic computer usage * 2 years of experience making outbound phone calls in a call center, customer service, or telemarketing environment preferred * Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe.
