The Insurance & Surety Coordinator reports to Insurance & Surety Manager and Vice President Insurance & Surety. Understanding all aspects of insurance and surety related to the heavy civil construction business. Proven ability to work in a highly stressful environment and experience in bidding jobs, placing insurance and administering insurance and surety programs.
What You'll Do:
Thorough understanding of general liability, excess liability, workers' compensation, professional liability, pollution liability, builders' risk, property, equipment and OCIP/CCIP policies and the insurance coverages contained in these policies;
Independently procures and purchases insurance and negotiates terms and pricing with various and different insurance carriers;
Closing out and resolving the insurance and surety issues for projects with respect to insurance carrier audits;
Negotiating collateral and collateral refunds from carriers;
Maintaining a fundamental and thorough understanding of the claims process most importantly with respect to reserves and the development of claims;
Understanding all aspects of the surety program including pricing for bids;
Independently responding to inquiries on subcontractor bonding;
Experience with Subguard a plus;
Working with accounting to set-up insurance accounts for coverage;
Conduct Prime and Subcontract contract reviews for insurance terms and verification including the exercise of independent decision making when procuring insurance under such terms;
Owner contract reviews related to insurance and working with the Legal department and project team to insure risks;
Understanding direct, indirect, consequential and liquidated damages with respect to available insurance.

Ability to work in PowerPoint to develop and give presentations to senior management;
Ability to independently manage insurance projects for jobs;
Ability to work with the estimating team on bids and the project team on insurance placements with the ability to promptly respond to inquiries and provide answers;
Understanding the carrier billing process for premiums and claim;
knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products;
Broad understanding of industry;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to multi-task;
Functions effectively as part of a team;
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times;
Excellent time management and organizational skills;
4-year college degree is required in addition to a
Minimum of 5 years of relevant insurance experience as an insurance manager, underwriter, broker or claims manager.
