Position Summary:

Insurance Specialist should possess a thorough working knowledge of the revenue cycle management process. Position is required to be a role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others. The Insurance Specialist is responsible for the research and resolution of aging account receivables to that are either unpaid or incorrectly paid.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Analyze, audit and resolve claims outstanding, denied, or incorrectly paid

  • Review and respond to payer correspondence.

  • Submit appeals as needed for denied claims.

  • Contact insurance companies and navigate payer websites in order to secure and expedite insurance payments.

  • Resolves patient billing inquiries.

  • Document in detail all actions taken in accounts receivable system.

  • Meet productivity expectations as outlined by supervisor.

  • Recognize, document and notify Team Lead of trends resulting in nonpayment or incorrectly paid claims.

  • Answer and resolve inbound calls from insurance carriers.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives as needed.

  • Keep current with Medicare and other third party administrators regulations and procedures.

  • Manage any special projects requested by supervisor or team lead.

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma

  • 1+ year of insurance follow-up including working knowledge of the appeals resolution process

  • Strong written, and verbal communication skills

  • Analytical and problem solving capabilities with close attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills

  • Thorough working knowledge of revenue cycle management including medical terminology,ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT-4 coding, Medicare reimbursement guidelines, billing and collection practices

  • Ability to read and interpret EOB's

  • Highly self-motivated, with ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Ability to remain flexible during times of change and adjusts promptly and effectively

  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies

VIEW JOBS 1/5/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-04-05T00:00 Afni is hiring a Property Insurance Subrogation Specialist who is primarily responsible for the recovery of subrogation claims from insurance carriers and self-insured entities including uninsured tortfeasors. These claims can be carrier to carrier, consumer, uninsured, or medical/PIP claims. Responsibilities include working with clients, insured, claimants, and others, appropriately documenting information to achieve recovery of these subrogation claims. Cases are managed in accordance with state regulations and prescribed recovery best practices. What you will be doing: The Subrogation Specialist may perform some or all of the duties listed below: * Respond professionally and promptly to telephone calls and emails from client brokers, insured, general adjusters, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, and underwriters. * Review files using a diary system in order to handle correspondence. * Review files for adequacy of investigation and measure of damages to determine whether to pursue arbitration, collection or litigation. * Identify the difference between medical damages and property damages in order to recognize the time limits of state specific statute regulations. * Prepare and review the initial content of each file while documenting and tracking all ongoing verbal and written correspondence in the AS400 system as well as applicable client systems. * Process letters and authority requests. Process appropriate paperwork for restitution request. * Process carrier to carrier subrogation files. * Research the application of laws and statutes as it applies to specific claims in each state. * Handle uninsured subrogation files. * Communicate effectively with insured, general adjusters, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, experts and underwriters in order to obtain and or provide necessary information. * Determine appropriate claim amounts and review subrogation. Evaluate claims based on information and liability factors. Review legal expenses and recommend payment or make appropriate adjustments. * Negotiate liability ranges and arrange payment with insurance carriers and self-insured entities. Property Insurance Specific Responsibilities: * Responsible for handling insured Property Subrogation Claims. * Understanding of Homeowners, Renters, Condominium and Commercial policies, as well as fidelity and surety bonds. * Investigates claims involving construction and product defects. * Identifies relevant state statutes and researches applicable case law. * Interprets contracts and other legal documents such as HOA by-laws and residential leases. * Prepares cases for court ordered restitution. What you will need: * High school diploma or GED.
