The Insurance & Scheduling Coordinator will professionally serve the clinic customer in scheduling and insurance verification needs.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supports Parker University mission and vision.
Appears well groomed and professional and adheres to dress code policy.
Protects Patient Rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information and adherence to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
Greet all patient appointment callers in a courteous and professional manner.
Processes scheduling inquiries made in a professional and timely manner.
Schedules new and established patient appointments, including coordination, cancellation, rescheduled visits for the Dallas and Irving clinic sites and radiology services
Enters basic patient demographics to meet scheduling registration needs and keeps up to date with clinic service fees, contracted health plans, types of services, clinic hours of operation and other pertinent clinical information to schedule appropriately
Keeps back office staff informed via excel file of all current doctors on current insurance plans
Maintains appointment calendar to reflect dates that the clinics are closed
Tracks workers compensation claims, auto accident claims, ACN allowed visits, and obtains approval for scheduling under these special circumstances
Aid in intern checkout process
Maintain and keep log of doctor rotation list for the back office
Date stamp all back office incoming mail and redistribute
Works as a TEAM player and is willing to assist others in their duties
Downloads bank statements weekly and verifies against payments
Scans EOBs and ERAs into system for billing processing
Verify patients' insurance and set up policy and/or cases in system
Maintain open communication with the back office
Processes assigned tasks from various departments
Reviews daily emails and replies in a timely manner
Performs other assignments as requested by supervisors
Understands fraternization with interns is strictly prohibited
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
EDUCATION/EXPERTISE:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two (2) years medical/clinical office experience.
50 wpm per minute typing skill with no greater than a 2% error factor.
Windows 10 software application including Word and Excel minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience.
Previous insurance verification experience in a clinical outpatient setting.
Bilingual is a plus.
JOB REQUIREMENT/SKILL/ETC.:
Knowledge of Basic CPT codes and ICD-10 Codes.
Billing and Medical terminology necessary.
Good verbal and written communication skills as well as great organizational skills
Good practical thinking and common-sense knowledge; proven attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency - prioritizing, customer service, and multi-tasking skills.
Must demonstrate self-starter attributes and take initiative when completing tasks.
Basic knowledge of software vs. hardware computer issues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk.
Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twenty-five (25) exerting up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force.
Physical dexterity and mobility with ability to reach and place items on shelving 66" high.
