Summary:

Insurance restoration estimator will work with homeowners, adjusters, and project consultants after storm events for both residential and commercial properties. As an Insurance restoration estimator, you work on the claim to accurately determine scopes of projects and prepare estimates, supplements and provide documentation to insurance carriers. You will build relationships with insurance professionals and communicate with property owners and project consultants the status and expectations of the insurance claim process. This professional is accountable for managing communications and resolving claims in a prompt and professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Writes Xactimate estimates. Uses Xactimate software to create estimates in a format used routinely by insurance companies. Ensures that all required work is identified and included in the estimate. Submits the Xactimate estimate to the insurance adjuster and Manager within a timely manner.

  • Assists with Supplements. Provide all documentation to insurance companies, assists with and develops both Front-end and Back-end supplements for approval.

  • Assists Project Consultants with the insurance process. Provides specific industry and insurance knowledge to expedite the approval and processing time of claims.

  • Inspects properties for damage. Visits the customer's property with the insurance adjuster, inspects the damaged areas (internal and external), takes photos if needed, and documents work to be done as needed. Coordinates with the team for additional information or photos if needed.

  • Monitors budget for Insurance Projects. Projects the revenue sources and amounts, expenses, and resources needed to achieve the projected results.

  • Coordinates the involvement of other Company departments on projects involving insurance claims as needed. Engages with members of the Sales, Production, Finance, and Administration Departments as required to ensure that insurance projects are completed and paid promptly.

  • Trains Project Consultants and support staff on insurance regulations, terminology, and processes. Conducts training sessions for the Sales, Production, Finance, and Administration Departments are requested by department leaders to ensure the how to properly evaluate, complete, and receive payment for insurance projects.

  • Communicates with Insurance companies on release of deprecation of claims.

  • Actively participates in department and Company meetings.

  • Seeks to improve productivity and results on a daily basis.

  • Follows all Company safety rules and operating procedures, practices and guidelines.

  • Completes other tasks as assigned by Management.

Requirements:

  • A high school Diploma or equivalent combination of education.

  • 3-5 years of experience in the home building, remodeling, renovation markets, and property claims.

  • A demonstrated ability to understand and work with contracts that provide for construction services or financing for construction services.

  • A demonstrated understanding of home insurance and how home insurance claims are processed.

  • Demonstrated skills in using Xactimate software to create insurance estimates.

  • Strong negotiating skills, including active listening, determining needs, understanding the adversary's position, the creation and presentation of solutions, overcoming objections, and closing the deal.

  • Strong 4-function math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Demonstrated computer skills using a service-oriented CRM system, including mobile access. Experience with Microsoft Office Suites is preferred.

  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to keep calm and be clear with challenging Customers, staff, and vendors.

  • The perseverance to keep pursuing solutions even when Customers, staff, or vendors are not cooperative.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills when interacting with Customers, staff, management, or vendors.

  • Strong abilities to multi-task, prioritize activities, and react quickly to changing information.

  • A valid driver's license with no restrictions on driving for company-related business.

  • A clean, reliable, and insured personal vehicle to ensure a prompt start to the working day.

  • Desirable personal traits including honesty, integrity, accuracy, high standards, fairness, punctuality, and good time management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on quantitative methods.

  • Solid working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to the selling, providing, and invoicing of construction services.

  • No restrictions or requirements preventing the ability to work in the US for any US company.

Physical demands:

The ability to walk around an office, warehouse, or neighborhood, climb and descend stairs, work in a seated position at a desk for hours at a time, stand at a trade/home show for hours at a time, drive to and from offsite meetings, operate computers and phones, open/close file cabinets, bend/stand as necessary, set up and use an extension ladder, safely climb on, navigate around, and descend from residential and commercial roofs, and lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
