Mission of the Department of Insurance:

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The primary purpose of the position is to regulate Managed Care (HMO/PPO) and L&H insurers that offer health coverage and accident and health coverage, etc. through the review of Policyholder Treatment, Marketing, Underwriting and Rating and Claims records.

The Senior Examiner will clearly and concisely summarize/communicate findings and prepare/maintain work papers according to Divisional guidelines.

The Senior Examiner will assist the Examiner-In-Charge in coordinating examination efforts with company officials. This position will assist Examiner-In-Charge with the pre-examination conference, and examination wrap-up conference. This position will also assist with the training of Examiner I personnel.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of insurance company and concepts

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of statutes and regulations applicable to insurance companies or prior experience working with other legal and regulatory issues.

  • Demonstrated working experience interrupting and applying laws and regulations, analyzing information, and evaluating the impact of company policies/procedures and practices.

  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with company management and professional staff.  

Bachelor's degree in business or economics or a related program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in policy and rate examinations, underwriting, claims adjusting work, or financial/marketing analysis; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Graduate from a four year college or university, preferably with a degree in business administration or economics or related program including at least a course in statistics or college level mathematics and three years of experience in L&H/Managed Care (HMO/PPO) policy rating and/or underwriting, claims adjusting, and/or financial/marketing analysis, and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.

General knowledge of overall company operations is highly desirable.

Experience working with regulatory/compliance issues is desirable.

Knowledge of the concepts related to Managed Care (HMO/PPO)/L&H operations are necessary.For consideration for this vacancy, all applicants must complete an on-line application using the "APPLY" button above.
