Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Life and Health Division (LAH) is a part of the North Carolina Department of Insurance. Position functions as a policy form and rate analyst performing technical review for compliance with North Carolina law the insurance policy template forms that life and health insurance companies wish to market in North Carolina. The products may consist of life insurance, specified benefit health insurance, annuity products, disability income insurance, credit insurance. The position also collaborates with the Actuarial Division in pre-approval review of premium rates, third party administrator licensing compliance, multiple employer welfare association licensing, and related product advertising to assure compliance with NC statutes and regulations.
These analysts normally specialize in life, health, or managed care insurance.
Work is reviewed and evaluated by a supervisor through conferences, reports, and a general review of completed work assignments. This position is required to assist with special projects and complete all other duties as assigned based on business needs of the Division.

Management Preference:
Bachelor's degree in business or economics or a related program from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in policy and rate examinations, underwriting, claims adjusting work, or financial/marketing analysis; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
