Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Insurance Operations Leader in our Broker and Client Servicing team. This role will report directly into and assist the SVP Head of North America Insurance Operations and be instrumental in shaping and executing the smooth functioning of our operations support for brokers and clients.

The Insurance Operations Leader will be responsible for the Broker and Client Servicing processes and will optimize operations and technology across internal and external processes, serving as the initiative owner for operations improvement and client services - from submissions processing through handling incoming requests - in addition to managing and ensuring the integrity of broker and client master data records across our global network. This role requires strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to adapt to the constantly evolving insurance industry landscape.

What you'll be doing:

  • Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and communicate the submission transformation vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with organizational goals and objectives.

  • Provide leadership and guidance involved in broker and client operations initiatives.

  • Foster a culture of customer centricity, data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement within the organization.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their broker and client support requirements and priorities.

  • Build strong relationships with executive leadership, business units, and functional areas to promote broker and client service initiatives and secure sponsorship and support.

  • Execution:

  • Monitor servicing operations by tracking performance metrics / SLAs and identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Own the quality and timeliness of broker data updates.

  • Service the intake, ingestion and processing of new and renewal business submissions.

  • Provide leading view of broker and client interactions including themes, types of requests, volumes, and resolution timeline improvement.

  • Serve as primary liaison between business unit and operations to drive value creation from Process and IT changes and investments.

  • Effectively convey vision, define user stories and approve business requirements.

  • Engage in cross-functional solution design and problem-solving to optimize workflows.

  • Lead change management through a cohesive and thorough communication and training strategy.

  • Talent Management:

  • Develop and oversee group of operations professionals as needed, such as Broker Servicing Analysts or Operations Analysts.

  • Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies throughout the policy administration process.

  • Mitigate risks associated with process changes by implementing appropriate controls and oversight mechanisms.

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in underwriting operations, process improvement, outsourcing or similar roles within the P&C insurance industry, specifically broker or customer support.

  • Strong understanding of insurance operations, processes, and industry best practices.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, change management, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and build consensus across diverse teams.

  • Strong project management skills to oversee complex initiatives from conceptualization to implementation.

  • Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft office - Excel, Visio, PowerPoint etc.).

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities; strong work ethic & energetic.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential; sense of urgency required.

  • Ability to establish priorities, anticipate problems, know and communicate the status of assignments to involved parties.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • Pursuit of ongoing educational designations related to the Insurance Industry preferred
