Obtain initial insurance verification and authorizations for clients. Enter insurance and financial information into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. Communicate with clients regarding their insurance benefits or eligibility for sliding fee programs. Oversee client payments and collections process.

Process
Obtain insurance information for clients as part of the intake process.
Verify insurance coverage of clients via telephone from insurance companies or on their websites
Secure authorization for services, as needed
Process insurance changes, as needed, in coordination with the Billing QA Coordinator
Data Entry
Enter financial review information, third party coverage, and insurance authorizations into the EHR system
Track completion of the Financial Agreement from clients and enter data in the EHR system
Complete Data Integrity projects as needed
Communication
Compile and forward insurance paperwork to the appropriate clinician
Communicate with staff and/or guardian to obtain and clarify insurance information
Process and Communicate Results of Slide Applications
Client Accounts
Act as liaison between clients, clinicians, and third party payers as it relates to charges and insurance related questions:
Respond to client phone calls and written requests
Set client payment arrangements
Notify clinicians of clients that are delinquent
Keep abreast of collection laws, rules, and regulations
Miscellaneous Duties
Back up for the Billing QA Coordinator:
Responsible for understanding job duties and able to fill in when the Sr Reimbursement Coordinator is not available
Crisis Verification: Responsible for understanding Crisis benefits and inform Crisis staff immediately regarding the coverage when the Sr Reimbursement Coordinator is not available
Participate in Billing team meetings and other Agency meetings as defined
Other duties and projects as assigned by the Billing and Accounts Receivable Supervisor
Insurance Benefits Coordinator Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate's or Bachelor's in a related field desired
At least 1 year of experience working with an electronic health record system or in a healthcare setting required
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel desired
Experience using Microsoft Access is a plus
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent communication skills
Self-motivation and independence
Ability to learn and assimilate new information and to handle confidential information
$22.50 - $26.50 an hour
Salary bracket: $22.50 - $26.50 (salary is based on several factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience and years of experience

This position will require on-site, in-person work due to the nature of job duties.

Vacation: Paid Vacation accrues at 10 hours of vacation per month - up to 15 days / 120 hours annually.
Sick Leave: Paid sick leave accrues at 6.68 hours of sick per month - up to 10 days / 80 hours.
Holidays: There are 2.5 days/20 hours of floating holidays per year in addition to the eight standard holidays.
