Pay rate: $34/hr. up to $45/hr. (Based on experience)

Schedule

  • 8-hour rotating shift. Working the first shift for 4 weeks and transitioning to the second shift on the 5th week.

  • Availability to work weekends every 5th week.

  • Availability to be on call for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Overtime

a. Over 8 hours pays 1.5 x wage

b. Sunday pays 2 x wage

c. Called, but not called in pays as 1.5 x wage in 30 minute increments

d. Called, called in pays 1.5 x wage with a 4 hour minimum payout

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient performance of the automated plant processes, systems and lines, while supporting teamwork amongst all departments, at Ingredion's Winston Salem Facility. They must be multi-crafted with a heavy emphasis on software, control systems and instrumentation. Their work includes on-line troubleshooting and repair, planned work, continuous improvement, capital projects, maintenance projects and training of other technicians and plant operators. Their activities are driven by area performance and planned work order requests.

As an Instrumentation Tech, your responsibilities will include:

  • Being a leader in safety, a safe worker who demonstrates concern for personal safety and safety of others.

  • A working knowledge and ability to follow site safety rules and specific safety practices.

  • Commitment to support and participate in our strong Safety culture of zero injuries and illnesses.

  • Ensuring that company, customer, and regulatory procedures for safety, quality, production and costs are carried out effectively and efficiently across their respective shift.

  • Participate in and promote safety programs at all levels every day.

  • Providing instrumentation services including troubleshooting, configuration, installation, documentation, checkout, and commissioning of instrumentation and valves.

  • Managing workload to maintain effectiveness and productivity.

  • Accurately documenting instrumentation service work and actively sharing instrumentation information. Documentation will include work orders, calibration reports, variance reports, and MOC documents.

  • Train and support non-technical users on the use of plant floor automation systems

  • Maintain instrument as-built documentation.

  • Work with 4-20mA analog signals and discrete signals. Experience with HART communication, Rockwell Software, Allen Bradley Drives, is a plus

  • Remove pressure, flow, and temperature devices and perform calibrations to ensure accuracy

  • Test instrument interlocks with PLC to ensure proper operation

  • Install instruments and SS tubing

  • Install, audit (voltage/amp check, megg), and commission equipment to ensure proper operation and functionality

  • Perform wire terminations on instruments and PLC panels

  • Start up support for new instruments in new processes

  • Support the introduction to the plant of new control technologies such as device networks, modular I/O, PLC programming software, etc.

  • Provide input into site engineering standards for programming and systems design.

  • Other electrical duties required (i.e. bend conduit, and pull wire)

  • Performing other duties as assigned or required by manager.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Schooling in controls/electrical/electronics is preferred, including courses in computer science.

  • Ability to troubleshoot programs residing in the Rockwell Automation PLC Control Systems in the plant.

  • Must have a good understanding of interfacing with PLC's, scales and display devices.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with SAP

  • Must have three (3) years of experience in a maintenance capacity within a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems using 480 volt 3 phase as well as 240 volt through 24 volt single phase systems

  • Ability to troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) hardware including Allen Bradley PLCs as well as others used in the field.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve technical problems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints as well as basic intermediate PLC ladder logic.

  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley, ABB and Factory Talk variable frequency drives and other common drives used in the field.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Knowledge of industrial plant systems, equipment and operations.

  • Proficient in the use of industrial mechanics tools, electrician's tools, instrumentation and controls tools and rigging/millwork tools.

  • Working Knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, SPC

  • Must be willing to work nights, occasional weekends, and overtime

  • Physical requirements: Ability to perform all needed physical activities without restrictions. (Maximum of 50 pounds lifting.)

  • Completion of pre-employment testing of all candidates is required

  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, and climb stairs in hot and/or wet environments (all the while wearing appropriate safety gear.)

  • Ability to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. This person is occasionally required to sit. This person must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
