A contract Instrumentation Engineer job in Luling, LA is currently available through Belcan.

Job duties:

Function as a project engineer to both specify and design plant instruments to SIS standards and ability

to perform field verification and equipment identification as projects progress.

• Manage projects time and budget.

• Instrumentation design and engineering -- instrument selection, valve specification, cable selection, tray and wire routings.

• Prepare project designs and work plans from conceptual project design to detailed design packages.

• Support project installations.

• Design and install based on functional safety procedures for instruments / valves.

• Develop/update instrument spec sheets, loop sheets, connection diagrams, electrical schematics, EFDs(P&IDs)

• Develop cable schedules, instrument indices, equipment lists, and material takeoffs

• Prepare requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors.

• Prepare construction and equipment specifications, including means and methods.

• Perform field walks on project opportunities to determine the available DCS connections, existing instruments and control

schemes, utility/facility constraints, and assist with preparation of cost estimates.

• Perform the function of field engineer, assistant project manager or assistant construction manager (as required), including

hands on field work and/or field engineering, supervision of subcontractors, review of daily work schedule and budget.

Inspect work of company staff and subcontractors.

• Communicate issues with project manager or construction manager and unit as directed by the project

manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering, Instrument Engineering, significant SIS industry

experiences

• Advanced training & experience in SIS, SIL, SRS -- instrument specifying and selecting.

• Significate petrochemical industry experience.

• Understand and have experience working with various voltage levels including: 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC

• Understand and have experience working with instrumentation systems including: 4-20mA, 0-5VDC, and 0-10VDC
