What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:
You will join a strong team of motivated individuals to service and support the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems we maintain for our municipal and industrial water and wastewater clients in the New England region. We have built a strong reputation for being there for our clients when they need it, and we want to expand the team that will enhance and carry on that tradition. As part of our fast-paced, exciting and growing team, you will be asked to participate in our service team, interface with clients, diagnose problems that are preventing their systems from operating at peak performance, identify reliability and supportability issues, and doing what it takes to get them up and running again. Typical tasks and responsibilities include:
Respond to emergency service requests from clients to restore their processes and SCADA systems to normal operations;
Perform diagnostic and troubleshooting activities to discern the nature of the problem and identify solutions around the control system and connected equipment, including motor starters, VFDs, instruments, etc.;
Work with our purchasing team for ordering and delivery required for repair and replacement of failed equipment and controls components;
Configure and calibrate instrumentation to operate properly within the environment and constraints they are installed;
Resolve immediate need as required; troubleshoot instruments or connected equipment, including HMI screen changes, modifications to the PLC code, installation or wiring modifications, etc.
Participate in the development of proposals to resolve issues, replace equipment, or restore operation of the equipment and SCADA systems identified during service calls as required;
Work with clients to identify safety, optimization, reliability and supportability issues and assist with budget planning (Operations/Capital)
What you need to succeed:
This position will involve travel and working at client sites the majority of the time, so the candidate must be flexible for 80% travel in the New England region. Travel will predominantly consist of day trips with the very occasional overnight. The candidate will be included in our on-call rotation, supporting our clients after hours and on weekends (average of one week every other month), receiving a stipend during that time.

Able to work independently our service technicians often work alone to solve the problems our clients encounter; at the same time, we come together a lot to share lessons learned and new ideas, and support or suggestions from the other members of the service team is only a phone call away;
Demonstrated ability for troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with limited information and time constraints;
Aptitude in solving programming, electrical or mechanical problems;
Have strong communication skills (oral and written);
Possess strong organizational skills;
Self-motivated and self-starting.
Who we are looking for:
AS or BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or associated field (CCST or similar certifications a plus);
4-6 years' hands-on experience working with industrial control systems;
Experience with any or all the following a strong plus:
Programmable logic controller (PLC) programming and configuration;
Human Machine Interface (HMI) graphical screen development;
Calibration and troubleshooting of instrumentation typically found in the water and wastewater industry (flow, level , pressure, analytical);
Configuration and troubleshooting for Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs);
Industrial Ethernet networking basics, configuration and troubleshooting;
Knowledge of common industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, DF1, etc.);
Electrical installation experience, an electrician's license is a plus;
Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint( Access experience a plus);
