Position Summary

We are seeking an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Field Services Engineer/Project Engineer to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center. The I&C Field Project Engineer will provide technical support to the Toshiba steam turbine generator fleet through coordination with the group manager. The I&C Project Engineer will also work closely with Field Sales Managers (FSM), Project Managers and I&C Engineering to verify work scope and ensure the highest level of customer support. This will predominantly be hands-on technical support for resolving customer's equipment issues. Travel to customer's sites is required.

Essential Duties

  • Serve as the technical Point of Contact (as allocated by the I&C Group Manager) during customer's emergencies in their particular areas of expertise. Responses to customer's requests, particularly emergencies, must be appropriate and immediate to ensure that the customer understands that they are receiving the best support possible and that their concerns are being seriously considered and supported.

  • Hands on work, located at the Milwaukee Service Center, is required, mostly performing maintenance and updates to installed training simulator.

  • Provide on-site technical support for the resolution of customer's equipment issues as related to the steam turbine generator controls systems. These issues may include troubleshooting and repair of software, programming, and/or hardware problems.

  • Provide on-site technical support for scheduled turbine outages as required. This may include supporting system inspection and testing, valve calibrations, startup support, etc.

  • Take the lead on Toshiba control system upgrade installations and testing.

  • Experience with Network configurations and cyber security.

  • Up to 60% / varies

Education and Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Level Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent or related engineering discipline

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as Steam Turbine/Generator Controls and Instrumentation Technician in the US power industry.

  • Military experience is a plus.

  • Previous experience working with Toshiba steam turbine generator control systems is a significant benefit.

  • Strong steam turbine generator controls system troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret system schematics, technical diagrams, manuals, and others specifications.

  • Strong working knowledge of Networking and working with computers (Industrial and Personal) and other Peripheral computing equipment is necessary.

  • Cyber Security experience is preferred.

  • Understanding of the customer's detailed requirements and working with Toshiba Japan (Japanese I&C Engineering) to provide appropriate solutions to our customer base.

  • The development of strong links and relationships with our Japanese colleagues.

Certifications and Licenses

  • GE, Emerson, Siemens, PLC's, DCS / Distributed Control Systems, FoxBoro, Mitsubishi (prefer steam, not gas)
  • Rockwell (database control, IPC, PLC, PC), Water/wastewater, commission projects, process systems

The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
