SUMMARY OF THE JOB This position has responsibility for providing sterile processing, decontamination, cleaning, assembly, and transportation of medical instrumentation/supplies/equipment and ancillary services to all requesting departments as required, under the supervision of the SSP Manager. # Employee must be able to successfully demonstrate the staff requirements as specified in the specific Care Center#s Scope of Service, and complete the Care Center#s specific competencies, and meet/exceed the Care Center#s standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal.# Employee must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of accepting pressure assignments, clerical assignments, and all duties relative to the department.# Employee must be capable of interacting professionally with other employees and departments within the hospital. # JOB Requirements # QUALIFICATIONS############ ################################ Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.# The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.# Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. # Demonstrates working knowledge of asepsis, sterile technique and the use of medical supplies and equipment. # EDUCATION # EXPERIENCE######## Graduated from an Accredited Surgical Technology program or completed IAHCSMM instrument of patient care certification program for CRCST/CIS or CBSPD. # CERTIFICATES, LICENSES # REGISTRATIONS High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology Program as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or a Sterile Supply CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)/CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) or a CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution). # (Note:# Candidates transferring from a different facility with experience in performing instrument tech duties will be granted 1 year to obtain the CRCST certification and 1 year to obtain the CIS certification.# All CST#s graduating will be granted 1 year to obtain their certification as a CST.# All parties must adhere to the requirements.# Refer to policy OP4-2029 Orientation-New Employees.) #

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
