Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE

This position exists to provide DCS support for ABB DCS system site-wide. The Instrument Engineer increases plant process productivity and adds value by integrating plant assets, information, technology, cyber security measures, and effective maintenance while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health, and safety regulatory and company requirements.

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Equipment Reliability: Provide DCS Maintenance support to the DCS systems which will enable Units to achieve smooth operation, manufacture high-quality products and avoid unscheduled process interruptions.

Ensure DCS equipment is secured from all Cyber threats. This will be achieved by utilizing industries' best practices, benchmarking, planning, abnormal analysis, initiation, and maintenance procedures.

Maintenance Performance: Successful Maintenance performance will result in a reduction of unscheduled work and achieving 100% planned and scheduled maintenance activities.

This includes communicating and working with Operations continuously to establish equipment criticality and providing standby equipment for critical equipment. Historical files shall be established and well-maintained to allow for correct diagnoses of equipment failures and performance of equipment maintenance.

Maintenance Support: Provide DCS Support to Operations to ensure compliance with State and Federal Environmental Regulations.

Check DCS system health routinely. Backup the system periodically. Work with technicians to diagnose and troubleshoot when encountering abnormal situations.

Lead and Facilitate: Review abnormalities with Instruments and operations to improve the overall performance of the DCS.

Initiate improvement projects to keep DCS equipment updated with supported hardware. Work with other departments to improve product quality and plant reliability.

THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance program.

Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Computer Engineering required; other B.S. Engineering disciplines considered.
  • 0-3 years of experience in maintenance in a petrochemical refinery environment; DCS maintenance preferred.
