Job Description and Qualifications

  • $10,000 BONUS for highly qualified candidates

Air Products, manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking high energy, self-starters to fill full time Instrument and Electrical Technician positions with on call responsibilities.

This hourly position primarily supports our 2 Hydrogen Plants in Martinez, California located onsite at the PBF Refinery. The position will be for the Martinez location, but will provide as needed support at 2 other hydrogen plants located nearby in Martinez on refinery sites as well.

You would be responsible to perform and/or supervise the inspection, repair, installation and modification of process controls, safety devices, analyzers, PLC's, field instrumentation and process monitoring equipment in the plants. You would also be responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of plant instrumentation and controls.

This position requires some travel ~10% as needed to support other HYCO facilities as needed.

The Technician's responsibilities include:

  • Technicians must be familiar with all equipment in plants served. A sampling of these devices includes transmitters, switches, analyzers, programmable controllers, proximity devices, level control systems, control valves, equipment and personnel safety systems, pay meter systems, and others. Within each category are a variety of pneumatic and electronic devices.

  • Technicians are also responsible for troubleshooting and working with Instrument Engineering Support to maintain distributed control systems. This is a most rapidly changing technical area and requires a high level of technical training.

  • Prepare and provide technical reports and enter information into SAP to provide accurate documentation and information for equipment.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • High school diploma/equivalent

  • Minimum five years of experience with calibration and troubleshooting of industrial plant instrumentation and controls

  • Knowledge of PLC and DCS controls is a plus

  • Supervisory skills/experience a plus

  • Basic computer skills

  • SAP knowledge is desired

  • Ability to work:

  • In an industrial environment that includes climbing ladders and stairs, lifting-up to 50 lbs, working at heights and in confined spaces

  • Extended hours on short notice

  • In a team environment, with safety first as a primary focus

  • And to communicate effectively across technical, operations and maintenance line

This role is a ladder position and advancement is possible based on experience and demonstrated competency.

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the I/E/A Technician</p></li><li><p>Electrician will support the operation of the facility through properly maintaining the electrical systems. They will be responsible for the installation, modification, and maintenance of all electrical systems, including the troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment used throughout the facility.</p></li></ul><p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><ul><li><p>Use of various tools and equipment to effectively troubleshoot, repair, install, and commission electrical systems.</p></li><li><p>Ensure all work is performed in a safe and environmentally compliant manner, adhering to site Health and Safety processes and Environmental regulations.</p></li><li><p>Perform work per applicable technical standards and specifications (Marathon, Industry, or Manufacturer).</p></li><li><p>Execute preventive maintenance activities as part of our Mechanical Integrity Program.</p></li><li><p>Able to understand/use electrical one-line drawings and schematics and operate electrical testing equipment.</p></li><li><p>Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and replace components in both AC and DC electrical systems.</p></li><li><p>Rack in and rack out electrical contactors and circuit breakers.</p></li><li><p>Execute Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, work permitting, and other Marathon and industry safety processes.</p></li><li><p>Understand and adhere to Marathon's electrical safe work practices.</p></li><li><p>Understand when electrical PPE is necessary and donning when appropriate.</p></li><li><p>Able to work alone or as a team to accomplish work efficiently and to high quality standards.</p></li><li><p>Effective verbal and written communication and reporting on as-found and as-left conditions.</p></li><li><p>Expected to train and become proficient on the maintenance of instrument and analyzer systems, including installation, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair.</p></li></ul><p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p><ul><li><p>Must have a high school diploma or GED.</p></li><li><p>Must have completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program or trade school or two years of verifiable journeyman level electrical work experience.</p></li><li><p>Must have previous experience and knowledge in the troubleshooting, repair, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems.
