The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for an Instrument & Electrical Maintenance Engineer supporting our Acrylics and Methacrylics facilities in Deer Park, Texas. The Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Maintenance Engineer will work for the Zone Maintenance Leader to support best in class repairs and reliability for the instrumentation and electrical assets across several facilities in the Deer Park site. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Identification and documentation of best in class repair methods for instrument and electrical assets within area of accountability

  • Optimizing Planned Maintenance for equipment and keeping record of equipment health such as transformers, switchgear and instrumentation

  • Partnering with Reliability Engineering and I&E Technologists in developing Equipment strategies to maintain or replace as needed for I&E equipment

  • Support each unit by working though the I&E Top Opportunity list and providing updates at team meetings

  • Supporting the planning of I&E inspection and testing and coordinating outage list with Turnaround Teams

  • Daily support to operations and I&E tech for troubleshooting failures and break downs. Primary escalation point for the I&E Technicians and Technologists

  • Act as liaison with the site Technical Support organization and plant staff for more technical oversight regarding failed equipment

  • Leading the investigation (or supporting investigations led by others) of repeat maintenance specific to I&E failures and develop methodologies to mitigate repeat failures in the future

  • Support each units Improvement Engineer for project development and scoping I&E submitted potential projects.

  • Own Maintenance driven I&E projects, Management of Change (MOC) changes as needed, and support other projects that require instrumentation changes or could affect I&E equipment

  • Support of the plant team with identification of I&E innovations that improve process and equipment reliability as well as process safety performance

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a discipline in Engineering is required.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a discipline in Electrical or Instrument Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years or more experience in instrument or electrical maintenance preferred.

Under the direction of the Technical Support Leader, the Electrical Maintenance Engineer delivers increased reliability and improved maintenance productivity of equipment for petrochemical processing assets across the Houston Hub (Deer Park, La Porte, Bayport, Texas City). This individual will be responsible for ensuring effective execution of maintenance work processes. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer, works to implement the strategic direction of maintaining facilities in line with the functional and business directives. The Electrical Engineer must be able to facilitate root cause investigations and develop and implement effective solutions from the investigations in order to achieve long term maintainability and reliability. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer must be an effective communicator and able to leverage solutions to other plants within the site and business. Responsibilities: * Understands the plant and maintenance technologies while providing high level of troubleshooting and repair expertise. * Interacts closely with Electrical and Instrument Technicians as well as Plant Operations personnel to troubleshoot and resolve Plant related issues to ensure smooth and reliable plant operation. * Participates in the development and execution of the business/facility and equipment maintenance strategies. * Participates in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy. * Acts as a leader within the TES team in continuous improvement in safety, environmental, and maintenance excellence while working within the facility's defined expense budget. * Implements Risk Based Inspection/maintenance methodology recommendations in assigned area. * Participates in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy. * Evaluates effectiveness of the Predictive & Preventive Maintenance program and leads team(s) in resolving deficiencies. * Utilizes 6 Sigma methodologies and tools to improve plant maintenance effectiveness. * Promotes and leads the maintenance and improvement of fprocesses and operating discipline. * Resolves engineering problems through application of Root Cause Investigation Methodology, data analysis, and electrical engineering expertise. * Facilitates and participates in Root Cause Investigations related to equipment failure.
