Position: Instrument / Control Tech II

Duration: Until July 2019

Job Description:

Responsible for repair and maintenance of the Instrument and Electrical equipment encompassing the plant 480-volt switch-gear installations, electrical and pneumatic system, PLC controllers and AC and DC drive controls.

Must have strong trouble shooting skill and be able to do modifications to PLC programs which include Allen Bradley, Modicon 984, Siemens Step 7, PCS 7 and TIA Portal.

Must be able to troubleshoot and repair Servo systems.
Must be able to install programs on Windows and configure Microsoft Windows.
Must be able to troubleshoot and repair industrial control networks, including Modbus Plus, RS 232, Asi bus, Profibus, Profienet, Ether Net IP, Device Net and Modbus TCP.
Must be able to calibrate and configure Level transmitters, Flow transmitters, Temperature controllers, HMI screens, Scales, Pressure Transmitters, etc.
Interpret electrical schematics, blue prints and computer logic to trouble shoot production problems and resolve them.
Perform process control, sensing and monitoring system calibrations and record keeping.
Work with other team members, engineers and production personnel to complete job task, breakdowns or machine redesigns to improve/resolve production needs.

Support, maintain and improve the plant MPI programs to maintain equipment reliability.
Responsible for requisitioning replacement parts from plant inventory as well as obtaining outside sources to replace, upgrade or implement new equipment designs.
Support production operations during the second and third shift as well as weekend coverage.

Actively participate in plant safety meetings and procedures for lock-out, line breaking, safe work, and hot work. Insure all contractors adhere to the company safety standards.


High School education or equivalent and one of the following:

Two (2) year Associates Degree in a related Instrumentation, Electronics or Control field.
Academic degree in related technology area to a maximum of 4 years.
Related work experience in reading loop sheets, electrical interconnect drawings, ladder logic drawings, equipment and process instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and knowledge of prevailing electrical codes.
4 - 8 years of experience in the field supporting a manufacturing environment.
Fanuc and ABB robotics experience is a plus.

This Position requires 3 month of afternoon coverage from 3pm to 11pm. and 6 months of day coverage from 7am until 330 pm.
Also candidate is required to be on call every third weekend.

Repairs and maintains all types of pumps and other kinds of mechanical equipment or machinery. Is fully qualified to perform the most complex functions and may lead the work of others. High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Vocational training and mechanical aptitude required, with the ability to read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles and other equipment. Minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory agencies at site. Steel fabrication and welding experience may be required if necessary at site. Repairs sewage, sludge and water pumps and any other kind of pumps. Operates drill presses to repair parts to machinery or mechanical devices. Utilizes pipe threaders when necessary. Copper Plumbing, Soldering. Repair chemical feeders and chlorinators. UV Systems. Welds metal pieces to repair metal objects with welding equipment. Fabricates metal parts from metal stock. Sheet Metal Fab and Bend. Cuts metal with acetylene torches. Repair weld equipment. Greases mechanical equipment and plant machinery. P.M.-Maintenance on Equipment Installs pumps and other mechanical equipment. Fabricate to fit or work. Checks gear boxes, motors and equipment to insure proper operation and fluid levels.
