Term of Employment: This is a full-time, academic year position beginning August 1, 2024. Candidates with terminal degrees may be eligible for a tenure track appointment.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and credentials (i.e., CompTIA Security+)

Position Description and Responsibilities:

Principal duties and responsibilities (teaching, scholarship, & service)

  • Advise and register students, participate in retention, placement, and educational activities;

  • Demonstrate ability to supervise independent research projects;

  • Maintain accurate academic records for students;

  • Participate in the development and coordination of course schedules;

  • Participate in instructional committees;

  • Assist in student recruitment;

  • Assume College committee responsibilities;

  • Participate in College community service;

  • Participate in professional development;

  • Curriculum and cyber workshop development;

  • Facilitate the Cybersecurity Hack-A-Thon Team;

  • Development of summer cybersecurity camps for K - 12 students during the summer months (3).

  • Demonstrate experience in using technology for course instruction;

  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester, conduct scholarly work, and be responsible for professional service including committee work, student advisement/recruitment, and course and program development.

  • The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach intermediate and advanced Cybersecurity courses. Demonstrate the ability to work productively with students, colleagues, community, and industry. Excellence in the education of undergraduate students in Cybersecurity. Evidence (based on experience) of the ability to teach core cybersecurity courses: introductory and advanced programming, computer security, networking, mobile computing/IoT, enterprise architecture and the ability to teach selected non-technical cybersecurity course (i.e. cyber-crime, cyber-psychology, cyber-sociology, and cyber-fraud). Demonstrated familiarity with instructional technology in the teaching-learning process, and the role of faculty in student success, recruitment, retention, internship, and career pathway.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist the department and college to recruit and enroll students who are a good fit for our culture, mission, and vision.

  • Evaluate and revise curriculum, course materials, and delivery materials, and delivery methods as changes in the field and teaching environment warrant.

  • Review, evaluate, and revise department policy, textbooks, and curriculum with other department members and the Department Chair to enhance student academic and career success.

  • Serve on college committees to enhance policies and processes which enhance student academic and career success.

  • PERFORM OTHER APPROPRIATE AND REASONABLY REQUIRED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY YOUR SUPERVISOR.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • MINIMUM REQUIRED: Master's Degree in the field or closely related field with 18 graduate credits completed in cybersecurity.

  • PREFERRED: PhD in cybersecurity or closely related field

  • Contemporary work experience in cybersecurity is preferred.
