Instructor/Assistant Professor- Early Childhood Education - Quincy College

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: This is an on-site position. This position is a benefitted half-time faculty position. All faculty are first members of the Quincy College faculty. As such, it is to be understood that the faculty member assumes an obligation to comply with the philosophy and mission of Quincy College.

Under the direction of the Dean of Professional Programs, the faculty member will teach courses in Early Childhood Education as assigned, and will maintain a proficient level of performance in the position, as well as carry out other position-related duties as assigned. Duties which may be assigned to the faculty member are set forth in the Agreement between the Quincy Education Association and Quincy College. Such duties include, but are not limited to, student advising, curriculum review and development, assignment to and participation on College committees, and other duties as assigned by the Dean.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assume a leadership role in delineating and articulating Early Childhood Education course content in assigned courses;

• Teach courses in Early Childhood Education and related fields as directed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and/or the Dean of Professional Programs;

• Collaborate with other appropriate faculty in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of Early Childhood Education courses;

• Collaborate with other appropriate faculty to facilitate and integrate a correlated approach to course offerings;

• Participate with others in the regular review or revision of course outlines, bibliographies, study guides, media, and other related course materials;

• Demonstrate motivation, self-direction, and perseverance towards achieving the philosophy and mission of the Early Childhood Education Department and Division of Professional Programs;

• Engage in the academic life of the college by serving on college committees;

• Maintain student advising and office hours;

• Facilitate the field experience program and pre practicum requirement for students including developing site locations and supervising placements;

• Collaborate with site supervisors relative to field experience placement;

• Participate in mandatory training/coursework, including but not limited to:

Title IX and Sexual Misconduct

Non-Discrimination & Sexual Harassment

Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting

FERPA

Municipal Ethics Law

• All other duties as set forth in the current collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements:

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in related field required. PhD preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of two (2) years college teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting;

Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission;

Experience instructing students from a diverse background;

Experience using technology in the classroom and/or for distance learning, and traditional/nontraditional methods of instruction;

Experience teaching in an early childhood program

Experience using multiple measures to assess student learning.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A

TRAVEL: This position may require teaching at both the Quincy and Plymouth Campus. If teaching on multiple campuses is required, scheduled assignments will be made to make sure that the Instructor teaches on one campus per day.
