Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of Dean of Natural and Health Sciences, the faculty member will teach for Quincy College's cutting-edge Biotechnology & Good Manufacturing Practice (BGMP) program and carry other job-related duties as assigned. Other responsibilities of this position include but not limited to: student advising; evaluating and updating program and the courses to meet industry requirements for entry level job positions; establishing and maintaining relationships with area pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and biomanufacturing companies and professional organizations for partnerships; assisting students with internships and job placement; serving on college committees and teams; maintaining currency and awareness of changes within and those effecting the discipline; and teaching/learning projects as assigned by the Dean. This position is based in Quincy campus but may require teaching at College's Healthcare and Science Institute, Boston location as well.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach courses within the Biotechnology & GMP Program including the Biochemistry, and as otherwise directed by the Provost and/or the Dean of the Natural and Health Sciences;

  • Maintain a regular schedule of office hours and provide appropriate academic counseling, advising, and tutorial support to students;

  • Collaborate with other faculty in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of BGMP courses and programs;

  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with personnel and companies involved in the Pharmaceutical, Biomanufacturing and Biotechnology industries;

  • Assist with administrative reporting required by College governance procedures to include but not limited to program review, program/course assessment, accreditation, and others as appropriate;

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to advance the BGMP programs, students, or the curriculum;

  • Demonstrate motivation, self-direction, and perseverance towards achieving the philosophy and mission of Quincy College, the Division of Natural and Health Sciences Programs, and the BGMP degree and certificate programs;

  • Engage in the academic life of the College by serving on and participating in College committees;

  • Participate in student recruitment activities on behalf of the College and the BGMP Program;

  • Facilitate program student internships and job placements;

  • Participate in mandatory training/coursework; including but not limited to:

  • Canvas, Quality Matters, and Canvas Studio

  • Title IX and Sexual Misconduct

  • Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination

  • Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting

  • FERPA

  • Municipal Ethics Law

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field. Doctoral Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience; including online teaching experience;

  • Significant experience in good manufacturing practice (GMP) and quality control (QC);

  • Ability to use techniques and equipment consistent with Biotechnology/Biomanufacturing education;

  • Work experience in the life science or pharmaceutical industries;

  • Experience in conducting course design and learning assessments using multiple measures;

  • Experience in managing and maintaining laboratory equipment.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission;

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of Quincy College's certification program for teaching (Canvas, Quality Matters, Canvas Studio) or, in the sole determination of Quincy College, the equivalent of that program.

  • Must possess valid driver's license.

  • Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated academic and leadership excellence as well as compassion and enthusiasm for community college students. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to education and working with a diverse student population. Demonstration of professional activity aimed toward maintaining currency in the discipline.

TRAVEL: This position may require teaching and attending meetings at Quincy campus and the QC Boston Location. Occasional travel to Plymouth Campus may be required.
