This position provides instruction in Spanish at various high schools and other locations within the A-B Tech service district and advising for students pursing the Associate of Arts. This position also contributes to General Education and to College and Division initiatives.

Duties

1.Maintains mastery of subject matter.

2.Develops and/or teaches courses for which the appropriate credential is held.

3.Teaches in various formats, at various locations (including high schools), and via various delivery methods.

4.Advises students.

5.Adheres to policies, procedures, expectations, and practices of the College, the department, and discipline.

6.Communicates clearly with students, other faculty, and staff.

7.Contributes to a safe and secure campus environment.

8.Enforces Code of Classroom Conduct and Code of Student Conduct for both A-B Tech and the high school locations.

9.Assists with program reviews, program accreditation, and SACSCOC accreditation as appropriate.



  1. Attends meetings and events and actively participates on committees and taskforces.

  2. Attends the annual commencement ceremony.

  3. Upholds the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.

  4. Supports diversity in all aspects.

  5. Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)

1.Master's degree in Spanish or a Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish;

2.Experience as an instructor with learning management systems, such as Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard, within the past five years.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Experience teaching in higher education.

2.Experience teaching at a North Carolina Community College.

3.Proficiency in a foreign language such as an East Slavic language and/or American Sign Language.

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation.

The total compensation for this position includes an 25.02% employer contribution to a defined pension plan, contributions towards medical and dental policies and fully funded life insurance / accidental death & dismemberment policy.
