Instructor or Assistant Professor Animal Science
Commensurate with experience
Full-time, 9 or 11 month, negotiable
Master's required, PhD preferred in Animal Science or a closely related field.
Applicant must have 18 graduate hours in Animal Science or a closely related field.
This is a nine/eleven-month tenure-track position teaching Animal
Science classes. Job title classification is dependent on current educational degree.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach 27-30 credit hours (Fall and Spring) for the Animal Science program.
Supervise academic progress of all Livestock Judging/Show Team members.
Efficiently manage herds/flocks and coordinate livestock activities at the OPSU school farm using best management practices. This includes the OPSU bull performance test.
Maintain an accurate record system for all livestock operations including the bull performance test, purchase orders, and livestock inventory.
Recruit students to the College of Agriculture, Science, and Nursing programs and Livestock Judging Team by visiting schools/campuses, attending camps and national livestock shows, and utilizing internet-recruiting initiatives.
Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution
internally and in the community
Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
Must be able to lift more than 25-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Agriculture, Science, and Nursing, Associate Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs or
