Job Summary:
Louisiana State University Textile, Apparel Design and Merchandising (TAM) department seeks a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Instructor. The individual will hold a 100% appointment with Louisiana State University A&M.
Job Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses that may include but are not limited to apparel quality analysis, fashion and society, trend forecasting, textile science, textile science lab, and digital illustration; present course concepts in an innovative, engaging, and inclusive manner encompassing group work, critical thinking, writing, and industry-based case studies or projects; take an active part in program development; teach equivalent of 24 credit hours per year. 95%
Serve as academic advisor for 15-20 undergraduate students; serve on departmental, college, and university committees; participate in regional, national and international organizations. 5%
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Textile Apparel Design and Merchandising or related area.
Specific Experience: Established college-level teaching record as graduate student, instructor or above; evidence of teaching excellence, undergraduate level advising, and service consistent with appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD Degree in Textile Apparel Design and Merchandising or related area.
Specific Experience: An established college-level teaching record as a graduate student, instructor, or above with evidence of teaching excellence. Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses within the TAM curriculum; ability to use current technologies (such as Adobe Creative Suite); industry experience, membership in professional organizations; professional involvement in community; ability to develop industry partnerships.

The Department:
At the undergraduate level, TAM offers a Bachelor of Science degree with concentrations in Textile Science, Apparel Design, and Merchandising.
The graduate program offers both a thesis and non-thesis Master of Science Degree and a Ph.D. with concentrations in Textile Science, Historic/Cultural, Apparel Design, and Merchandising.
The department is a valued part of the College of Agriculture. TAM averages 200 majors and 50 minors, with a departmental student retention rate that is the highest in the college and the second highest in the university.
