This is a full-time, nine-month teaching position in the Department of Mathematics and Physics beginning August 2019.


  • Primary duties are classroom instruction of undergraduate physics (both calculus and non-calculus based) and physical science with a commitment to student learning. Course assignments each semester may range from freshman level liberal arts computer science to senior level courses.

  • Faculty members should expect to be involved in department activities, student advisement, student recruitment, and mentoring students.

  • Additional duties will include holding 10 office hours per week, participating in school or university committees/activities, attending two faculty development activities/workshops per semester, engaging in other scholarship, and attending commencement activities.

  • Applicants who are available to teach both day and evening courses are preferred.

  • Teaching opportunities during the summer may be available depending on enrollment. Summer assignments are not guaranteed.


  • Applicants should have a Master's Degree in Physics.

  • Applicant should have a strong commitment to teaching at a liberal arts school. Evidence of successful teaching at the college level is desired.

  • The candidate must be prepared to affirm and support the Christian and liberal arts mission of Bethune-Cookman University.

Salary: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful applicant will participate in the development of numerical algorithms and simulations of electromagnetic waves and wave-particle interactions in the Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere. The candidate should demonstrate good knowledge and experience with numerical methods, high-performance computing, and visualization of scientific results. The candidate also should be familiar with methods and software used for data analysis of field and particle data collected by satellites in the magnetosphere and ionosphere, and have good presentation and publication records. Ph.D. in a field associated with Space Physics by the start date of appointment is required. The review will start upon receipt of applications, and the position will remain open until filled.
