Position Summary
Teach courses in Nursing clinical in the classroom, lab and hospital setting. Apply innovative teaching and learning pedagogies that engages a diverse student population.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Including but are not limited to:
Medical-Surgical clinical rotation in a hospital setting assisting students with physical assessment, medication administration and performance of nursing skills
Evaluating students on performance in the clinical setting
Teach courses as assigned by the College
Available to teach daytime, evening, and weekend classes, as needed
Available for student conferences either before or after class, and by College email or special appointment if necessary
Participate with producing documentation relating to program accreditation standards to achieve and maintain accreditation
Work cooperatively within the department, the division, and throughout the College in striving for educational excellence
Assess student learning and participate in assessment of the Nursing Program
Maintain and submit accurate attendance records, along with course related data
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing
Two years of recent hospital experience
Current and unrestricted Illinois RN license
Certification in CPR
Work experience in an acute care setting in the last two years
Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills
Willingness to use educational technology (i.e. Canvas)
Demonstrated commitment to professional growth, especially regarding contemporary expertise specific to assigned teaching content
Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles
Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
For each semester worked, McHenry County College provides Adjunct Faculty a sick leave allowance and credits toward MCC tuition waivers.
