The Business, Technology, and Workforce Education division at Waubonsee is currently seeking a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of Manufacturing Technology with a commitment to teaching excellence, diversity, equity and holistic student success.

The Instructor of Manufacturing Technology will deliver curriculum and instruction for a range of topics including machining fundamentals, metrology and mechanical inspection, print reading, manual machining, precision machining, mill and lathe operations and programming, and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and other related courses.

The full-time faculty member of Manufacturing Technology will be responsible for the curriculum, instruction and student learning assessment for Associate in Applied Science degrees in Advanced Manufacturing Technology, as well as various Certificate of Achievement programs. The program is accredited by and adheres to standards set forth by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

The position is based at the Sugar Grove Campus and teaching assignments may include days, and/or evenings. Courses may be offered in various delivery modes, i.e. face-to-face, flex, online, synch-online, and hybrid. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Duties and expectations of this position include, but are not limited to:

Designing syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments and assessments that address the needs of a diverse student population and ensure that students successfully meet program and course objectives and outcomes.

Incorporating learning-centered principles and concepts and motivating students to participate actively in all aspects of the educational experience.

Employing instructional and classroom technology appropriately and effectively to deliver and enhance teaching and learning in online, hybrid and face-to-face courses.

Assisting the Manufacturing Technology department in the areas of curriculum development, student success initiatives, student advising, adjunct faculty mentorship, assessment of student learning, support for student clubs and organizations and the

continued alignment and maintenance of the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) program accreditation.

Overseeing laboratory and classroom safety in collaboration with laboratory and administrative staff.

Collaborating with team members and industry (i.e. Advisory Committee and employer partners) to design and implement the most effective Manufacturing Technology program that maintains industry standards and is responsive to evolving technologies.

Promoting, participating in, and supporting student awareness, recruitment, and retention efforts.

Serving on various campus committees as a representative of the Business, Technology, and Workforce Education division.

Working collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs of students and the community.

Modeling professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering/technology, advanced manufacturing, machining, or a related field.

A minimum of 4000 hours of work-related, hands-on experience in the field of Manufacturing Technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in industrial or manufacturing engineering/technology, advanced manufacturing, machining, or a related field.

National Institute for metalworking Skills industry certifications.

Two years of post-secondary teaching experience in Manufacturing Technology or a related field.

Teaching experience at the Vocational/Technical or Community College level highly preferred.

Experience incorporating technology and multimedia applications into teaching and learning processes; interest in all forms of alternative learning is highly desirable.

Interdisciplinary focus integrating innovative learning strategies and the demonstrated ability to enhance the success of diverse student populations is essential.

Experience teaching traditionally underserved populations.

Experience teaching online courses and willingness to learn learning management systems technology

Compensation Range: Placement on the salary schedule is dependent on qualifications. Qualifications include education, teaching experience (related work CTE ONLY)

Work Schedule: Fall and Spring semester

Work Hours: Classes may be offered during daytime, evening and weekend hours
