Job Summary

The Department of Education and Teacher Preparation seeks applicants for the position of Instructor of Teacher Education. This is an academic year (10-month) position beginning on August 1, 2024.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities -

  • Teach courses primarily in elementary and special education for preservice teachers. Be willing to teach courses in educational foundations and/or middle grades education as qualified and/or needed;

  • Supervise and mentor teacher candidates in clinical field experiences;

  • Collaborates with the Director of Field Experiences, Certification, and Outreach to support candidates and field supervisors in clinical field experiences;

  • Prepare syllabi that align with course learning outcomes;

  • Implement research-informed and practice-based learning experiences with teacher candidates and assess course learning outcomes informally, formally, and through performance-based means;

  • Participate in academic advisement;

  • Engage in service at the department and institutional level

  • Attend all department meetings and collaborate closely with faculty and PK-12 partners to support the success of our programs and teacher candidates;

  • Teach courses using in-person, hybrid, or virtual modalities, as needed.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Masters degree in education

Other Required Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills that support collaboration with a variety of educational stakeholders

Required Experience

  • More than three years of P-12 teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

  • Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) or Doctorate in education
