FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Instructor of Economics.

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

Job Summary

Fort Valley State University invites applications for a position as an Instructor of Economics in the Department of Business Administration within the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate for this position will teach courses in economics, and other business courses as needed, engage in scholarly activity, and offer service to the department, college, university, and community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach full load in discipline and or related fields, both on ground and online

  • Provide academic advising to students

  • Mentor students with an interest in Economic careers.

  • Supervise/conduct related research

  • Engage in professional development activities

  • Participate in and support service-related activities at the departmental, college, institutional, and community level

  • Serve on committees as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Master's degree in Economics from an accredited Business school/college

  • Teaching experience at the university level

  • Ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements

  • Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning

  • Ability to work collaboratively

Preferred:

  • Experience with learning management systems

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness

  • Related industry/business experience

  • Strong understanding of learning and motivation

  • Demonstrated skills in the assessment, advising and mentoring of learners

  • Proven ability to deal effectively with individual differences in ability, personality, and interests
