Instructor of BS Medical Laboratory Science
Online Medical Laboratory Science Program
BASIC DESCRIPTION
The Instructor of Medical Laboratory Science is responsible for teaching classes in the area of concentration and related Health Sciences. In addition, the position requires course development and assessment, advising students, participation in department and university activities as needed.
ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements:
Masters in healthcare-related field
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS-ASCP)
Active Louisiana CLS license (LSBME)
Graduate from NAACLS accredited MLS program
Preferred:
Responsibilities:
1.Teach 15 hours each fall and spring semester.
2.Organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, curriculum planning and development and working with the other program faculty.
3.Engage in documented continuing professional development as required for certification and or licensure in Medical Laboratory Science.
4.Maintain accreditation of the Medical Laboratory Science program.
5.Have regular and consistent contact with students and program faculty promoting professional development and teaching excellence.
6.Engage actively and successfully with the health care community.
7.Develop and assist with the supervision of student internships/practicums.
8.Develop appropriate research and publication initiatives.
9.Develop and teach online courses.
Advise students enrolled in degree programs offered by the Department of Allied Health.
Participate in departmental meetings, discipline advisory committee meetings and other departmental activities as needed.
Assist with student organizations sponsored by the Department of Allied Health.
Assists the director with academic program review, accreditation, recruitment and retention of students, as well as strategic planning.
