Job Summary
Somerset Community College is accepting applications for a Medical Laboratory Technician Instructor position.
Job Duties:
Teach medical laboratory technician and phlebotomy courses;
Participate in evaluation of student achievement;
Participate in curriculum assessment and development;
Participate in review and development of program policies and procedures;
Serve on program committees and participate in assessment of program outcomes;
Supervise students in laboratory and clinical settings, with some travel to clinic sites, as needed; Demonstrate adequate knowledge and proficiency in assigned content areas of expertise;
Demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level.
Other duties include academic advising, internal and external service, professional development and leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Sciences in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) OR Medical Technologist (MT)
Three years of related work experience
Current certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists with certification to work in Kentucky
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum requirements PLUS a Masters Degree in Education, Public Health, Chemistry or Biology
Classroom, laboratory or clinical teaching experience.
