As a(n) Instructor

  • Lincoln/TANF you will:
  • Attend all required training.

  • Facilitate workshops for job seekers.

  • Recruit and enroll participants using established processes and procedures.

  • Complete all required data entry.

  • Ensure that the materials needed for each training session is available and are high quality.

  • Work closely with Center staff to plan, promote and support the logistics of implementing the workshops.

  • Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the training programs and ensure that evaluations are completed and returned.

  • Facilitate training sessions using a variety of training styles and methods to flexibly meet a variety of learning styles and needs.

  • Follow established procedures for workshop sign-in, evaluation distribution and collection and participant follow-up.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in Education, Social Work, Communications or a related filed preferred.

  • Prefer 3-5 years progressively responsible work experience in education, training and development, or coaching.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in working in workforce development preferred.

  • Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of adult learning and motivational theories.

  • Knowledgeable about cognitive behavioral thinking.

  • Excellent communicator.

  • Understands when and how to use audio visual training aides including power points, flip charts, white boards, computers and other tools as needed.

  • Solves problems and negotiates misunderstanding/disagreements with participants in a rational and non-defensive manner.

  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills.

  • Must have a valid Driver's License in good standing and valid automobile insurance.

The successful candidate will participate in and support a culture where employees are highly motivated, energetic, excited and enthusiastic working for DHHS. This position is federally funded and may be governed by the Federal Hatch Act. Click here to review the Act. Examples of Work Develop program objectives, strategic plans, policy and procedures for the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) block grant, which includes the ADC and Employment First programs. Determine and recommend program policy by analyzing all pertinent issues and information, assessing the impact of proposed policy on the provisions of services. Determine and secure the resources necessary to implement programs/ policy. Supervise professional staff. Plan, organize and direct TANF unit functions and ensure activities are carried in compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines through the work of staff, vendors and sub-awardees. Monitor program services and efficiencies, develop quality assurance plans, initiatives and action plans to improve program quality and to address deficiencies. Provide consultative direction and advice to Economic Assistance Administrators and Supervisors in the field as well as in Central office related to rules and regulations governing TANF to provide information and recommendations. Serve as the liaison with federal partners for TANF. Prepare the State Plan for TANF for federal approval, monitor grants for compliance with federal and state regulations, develop and oversee the Program's budgets and draft legislative language for proposed bill changes and provide policy interpretation on legislative bills. Qualifications / Requirements REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, social/behavioral sciences, education, health sciences, public health, education, law or related field and one year experience in program planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, evaluating, marketing a program or service and supervising/managing staff. Related coursework, training and/or education may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in public administration, social work, human development, public health, behavioral science, law, finance, human resources or other related field. Three years of experience with program management in a human services field directly related to the assigned program area including supervisor or manager experience. OTHER: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation for work-related travel. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: the principles and practices of management; business and management principles including planning, budgeting, resource allocation and human resources; the principles of grant writing and grant administration; the techniques of research, planning and evaluation; work performance or other standards of development; program analysis/evaluation; policy development. Skill in: communicating to convey information so others will understand; performing quality assessment reviews and evaluating program effectiveness; identifying problems and developing options for solution.
