ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The USF College of Public Health is searching for two Instructors to facilitate our integrated and applied foundation core curriculum. USF's foundational core, developed in 2014, consists of History and Systems of Public Health, Population Assessment I and II and Translation to Practice (12 credits) and covers the foundational building blocks of the field of public health. Our curriculum is offered in multiple formats (online, in-person, and in hybrid format) to more than 300 students a year. As part of this program, students also complete an applied practice experience, and integrated learning experience and must pass the Certified in Public Health (CPH) exam.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL DUTIES: 90% FTE
Assist with the College Foundational Core Programming.
Lead the implementation/instruction of foundational core courses with other faculty.
Maintain the quality of a rigorous foundational core.
Ensure students are well prepared to pass a rigorous qualifying exam (CPH).
Serve as the primary POC for Core Teaching Faculty, Teaching Assistants, and graduate students enrolled in the core.
Guide/Mentor a group of TAs and student writing and analysis mentors to ensure regular and consistent student supports.
Supervise the work of the instructional design and teaching assistant teams working on core course creation and revisions.
Work directly with Core Teaching Faculty to ensure consistency across core course offerings.
Ensure alignment with Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) competencies and prepare materials for accreditation review.
Publish academic papers and present at national level conferences with an emphasis on the science of teaching and learning, public health curriculum development and design, and other areas related to pedagogy.
Coordinate the COPH Professional Development Network (USF BullPEN), our professional development series designed to facilitate student job readiness.
Direct student professional development opportunities.
Serve as the POC for faculty and groups in the creation and implementation of professional development seminars.
Attend weekly academic grand rounds.
Participate in faculty development workshops.
RESEARCH/SCHOLARSHIP DUTIES: 5% FTE
Collaborate with COPH faculty to design, develop and implement studies to guide educators in better understanding the science of teaching and learning and meeting the unique needs of 21st century learners.
Assist in the development of presentations and manuscripts to disseminate findings in the empirical and pedagogical literature.
Provide support for professional conferences and other dissemination activities will be provided.
SERVICE DUTIES: 5% FTE
Participate in College and University Committees; and service opportunities.
Participate in regional and/or national professional organizations and activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
The applicant will be expected to teach 3-4 graduate level foundational core courses per semester, as assigned. The position is located in Tampa, Florida. Travel may be required. This assignment may include teaching at other campus sites, day or evening classes, large classes, distance learning and using multiple teaching methodologies.

MINIMUM:
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in public health, social/behavioral sciences, epidemiology, or a closely related field.
Record of teaching and be focused on practice and/or case-based learning in high-engagement classes.
Defined interest in the application of foundational public health content into practice is imperative.
Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring graduate students.
PREFERRED:
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified in Public Health (CPH) certification.
Teaching focus to include an integrated master's level foundational core and/or epidemiology, biostatistics, public health education, public health theory, health policy, environmental health, global health, or other related fields.
Publication record in peer-reviewed journals of recognized excellence.
Must be SACS credentialed.
