Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives and activities that promote the mission of the college. Participate in professional development activities that enhance the faculty member's effectiveness.
Create a learning environment in which all students are treated equitably and with respect. Collaborate with departmental (college-wide) colleagues in the selection of library resources, software, and textbooks and in the development of master course syllabi. Develop and administer final examination to students during the scheduled exam periods and in accordance with College policies.
Use a variety of assessment strategies throughout the semester to maximize student success, including assessment of program outcomes. Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and evaluation records in an acceptable gradebook format and file gradebook (or copy) with the division office at the end of each semester. Instruct students in the safe and proper use of equipment and supplies and in procedures for proper housekeeping and storage of materials.
Maximize the use of advanced technology, including the use of computer and related strategies, in the classroom as appropriate. Perform registration assignments as scheduled by supervisor.
Participate in committee activities within the division and at the campus and college levels. Serve as a resource to students in the pursuit of employment or advanced educational opportunities by completing recommendations or helping with contacts. Attend Faculty Convocation and a minimum of one Graduation Ceremony per academic year.
Attend meetings. Adhere to the workweek requirements set forth in the College's Workload Requirement policy. Represent the College in manner, appearance, and behavior that promote a positive image of the College within the community.
Required Education: Individual must be credentialed as an Emergency Medical Technician in the State of Louisiana.
Individual must also possess credentialing as a Lead Instructor with the Louisiana Bureau of EMS and as a BLS Instructor with the American Heart Association. Individual must have prior teaching experience EMT students as well as work experience as an EMT.
Required Experience: Individual will teach courses for the Department of EMS Education, primarily EMT, EMR, and BLS CPR courses.
Responsibilities will also include assisting the Program Director with recruitment and selection of students for assigned courses, creating lesson plans, exams and quizzes, and homework assignments. Individual will also prepare instruction in appropriate skills, monitor practice of same, and develop scenarios for testing competency of skills.
Additionally, required to maintain appropriate student records, to include grade book, skills check-off sheets, scenario-based check-off, and clinical records, including clinical ride hours, immunization shot records, and background checks.

Required Licenses or Certifications: Credentialed as an Emergency Medical Technician in the State of Louisiana .
