POSITION PURPOSE
The Technical Director Cardiac Sonographer will be part of a cardiology team practicing in association with St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center inpatient and outpatient cardiology locations.
This opportunity is ideal for the candidate possessing the skills, experience and motivation to assure adherence to quality standards of a multi-site accredited ICAEL facility. The technical director role and responsibilities extend beyond those of the staff sonographer and are focused on the training and development of cardiac sonography services. The technical director reports directly to the non-invasive medical director or his/her delegate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
Perform as a clinical instructor and classroom lecturer in an educational program established to train cardiac sonographers.
Responsible for development and maintenance of a curriculum of an education program established to train cardiac sonographers Actively partake in application and student selection process to attend an education program established to train cardiac sonographers
Technical training and orientation of student sonographers and new hires
Demonstrates flexibility, tact and ability to perform both independently and as a team member.
Performance of echocardiograms (TEE, TTE, SE as applicable per location) for inpatient and outpatient adults per American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) guidelines.
Administration of image enhancing agent per ASE guidelines
Proper maintenance and handling of equipment that is in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and organizational policy
Quality Improvement measures performed quarterly per Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) structure, including 2 cases per modality (TTE, TEE, SE) per location in the areas of test appropriateness, technical quality review, interpretive quality review, final report completeness and timeliness.
Quality improvement meetings for all locations to be held quarterly at rotational locations to review any identified topics of need through QI measures.
Ensure compliance with ICAEL standards and guidelines for performance of echocardiograms and functioning of department in all locations.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Sonography required
Certification as cardiac sonographer through CCI or ARDMS registry
Graduate of formal cardiac sonography training program.
Advanced knowledge of ultrasound techniques, principles and procedures
Extensive clinical experience in providing sonography services and demonstrated ability to mentor and support staff sonographers
Proficiency with computer programs and software programs used for documentation and report generation
Commitment to professional growth and lifetime learning
Competence with equipment preferred
Current BLS certification
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Office/Clinical setting. Exposure Class I - Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.
Communicates frequently, in person and over the phone, with people in all locations.
Manual dexterity is needed to operate a keyboard. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication.
Lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting and walking are requirements of the cardiac sonographer role.
Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
May be required to travel up to 50% between locations within the Region.
Pay Range: $34.05-$51.10
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
