Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) is currently the fourth largest of NC. Community College System's 58 institutions. Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Under general supervision, this individual will develop, prepare and teach Aviation Management and Career Pilot Technology courses within the department, including courses approved under our FAA Part 141 curriculum. The faculty member must be knowledgeable and able to instruct in the following technical subject areas: aerodynamics, meteorology, aircraft systems, safety management systems, airline industry, flight operations management, human factors, and aircraft structures. The individual will also need to be able to conduct flight training in the simulators. The faculty member will also need to be familiar with using a Learning Management System for conduct of face-to-face and online classes. Faculty will also be responsible for advising and recruiting students and collaborating with business and industry partners to provide necessary training and education. The individual must meet Transportation Security Administration (TSA) badging requirements to function in the Airport Operating Area at Piedmont Triad International (PTI) airport.

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college/university
Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot's certifications and endorsements to meet departmental requirements under Part 141 to include:
FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate
FAA Valid and Current Certified Flight Instructor
FAA Certified Flight Instructor
Education Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Aviation from a regionally accredited college/university
Certified Flight Instructor
Experience Required
Three years documented experience in the aviation field
Post-secondary teaching experience in a Part 61 or Part 141 environment
Experience Preferred
Greater than three years documented experience in the aviation field
Minimum three years industry and/or teaching-related experience with Part 107 sUAS
Experience with UAS autonomous flight programming
Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems

Specific Departmental Requirements:
1.Provide simulator instruction as needed for special programs and recruiting events
2.Maintain FAA Instructor currency for Part 141 instruction
3.Maintain Part 141 Student Records
4.Individual must meet TSA badging requirement to function in the Airport Operating Area at PTI Airport
5.Instructor must travel between campuses as required for committee meeting, professional development, etc.
6.Schedule may require day or evening classes.
Physical Demands
1.May include teaching day and evening and on multiple campuses
2.Position may require standing for extended periods of time, stooping, walking, climbing, and bending to supervise students in confined areas inside, underneath, and on top of aircraft, as well as on elevated work stands and platforms.
3.Exposure to hazardous materials is possible and will require safe handling, use and disposal. Some classes require using flammable and/or inert high pressure gases, and using high pressure hydraulic equipment.
4.Lifting, and the positioning of heavy equipment in preparation for classes and labs is
required.
5.Work may be required in an environment that varies from hot to cold (seasonal), which can be both noisy and dusty, and require standing for lengthy periods.
