SUMMARY:

The Technology Integration Specialist (ITS) coordinates efforts to support and develop the use of technology as a tool to support teaching and learning. Serves as a coach and mentor to assist staff in implementation and integration. The ITS also plays a role in working with students and supporting co-curricular programs involving the use of a variety of electronic resources. Minor computer setup, repair, and maintenance. This position travels between Hudson High School and Quinn Middle School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with the Director of Technology and other members of the Technology department on a regular basis to assess needs and recommend suitable technology, apps, and programs.

  • Assist faculty in developing units, projects, or other educational technology applications within their curriculum.

  • Assist staff in classrooms with curriculum lessons requiring the use of technology.

  • Assist students with applications as needed.

  • Assist and support staff in our 1:1 learning environment in their classrooms.

  • Provide workshops and training for staff in educational technology skills and applications.

  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software problems. Performs minor technical repairs.

  • Implement differentiated instructional techniques for both adult and student learners.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree required

  • Master's degree is desirable in Educational Technology leadership or similar degree. Specific training or its use in the educational setting is required.

  • DESE certified- Instructional Technology Specialist or similar license.

  • Some desktop support experience preferred.

  • An understanding of appropriate uses of technology in the educational setting, particularly Chromebook technology in a 1:1 learning environment.

  • Competency with Windows computers and software, in particular Microsoft Office and Google Apps.

  • An understanding of the Windows operating system, in particular Windows 10.

  • Current knowledge of available and emerging technologies, especially as regards mobile computing.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with faculty regarding technology use in both oral and written form.

  • Ability to effectively train faculty in technology use.

  • Knowledge of sound teaching strategies.

  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Hudson School Committee's policy on evaluation or in accordance with union contract.

WORK YEAR:

  • 10 months, 183 work days

  • 2 personal days, 12 sick days, prorated pursuant to date of hire

  • This is a salaried position distributed over 26 paychecks including a lump sum in June to cover summer pay

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
