SGI Global LLC is seeking an Instructional System Designer to assist in the update and development of the Marine Corps Acculturation Program (MCAP) courseware. Approximately 35,000 civilian Marine employees work for the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and remain an integral part of the total work force concept.

Acculturation is the strategic process of welcoming new employees, establishing their responsibilities, and familiarizing them with the Marine Corps culture. The current MCAP courseware is not Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) compliant, and requires updating to include the Commandant of the Marine Corps priorities. MCAP helps new civilian employees develop and understand the USMC commitment, and responsibility toward how they fit into the organization.

A successful Acculturation program creates a positive experience for new employees. Upon completion, participants will understand the Marine Corps culture, values, organization, and mission. The purpose of MCAP is to provide a positive socialization experience for newly employed Marine Corps civilians to learn, understand, and foster an appreciation for Marine Corps culture, and to reduce the amount of time it takes to become fully productive members of the Marine Corps Profession.

The objective of this deliverable is to facilitate DC M&RA's goal to provide new civilian employees with a structured Acculturation training across the Marine Corps. The ISD will work with Subject Matter Experts to provide modifications to the current Acculturation courseware as well as develop new SCROM compliant and scalable courseware for new civilian employees. The ISD is expected to adhere to the industry standard Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) model of instructional design.


  • The ISD is required to have relevant instructional design backgrounds and strong experience in onboarding principles, and Marine Corps history, customs, courtesies, heritage, structure, organization, operations, and culture. Demonstrate the ability to develop effective, engaging, and blended courseware learning activities such as demonstrations; videos; simulations; assessments; and project management experience, expertise in instructional design methodology and adult learning theory.

  • Master's degree in Instructional System Design

  • 10 years of experience for work similar in size and complexity;

  • Experience in the learning theories listed in the table below

Participant will gather data and make determinations based on case study
