Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: Administrative Program JG4

  • Stipend of $7,500.00

Terms of Employment:
11 months/ 197 days per year. Salary is at Administrative Program Job Group 4 on the SAISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Annual salary range is $52,819.64 - $64,594.33 based upon directly related experience with an additional stipend of $7,500.00 for Instructional Specialist duties.

Primary Purpose:

Improve student achievement by coaching; model teaching; providing targeted intervention group instruction based on data analysis; developing, sequencing, and revising curriculum and assessments; and providing professional development to support and ensure quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment in the assigned content rea.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university

  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification

  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant

  • Valid Texas Drivers' License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District

  • Minimum of five years teaching experience in the content area

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

(The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.)
1.Provides curriculum, instruction and assessment support and professional development for all involved personnel to ensure a consistent and effective content area program
2.Works effectively with campus based coaches, teachers and administrators to establish positive, trusting and supportive relationships
3.Initiates collegiality and works cooperatively with others, supporting the team building process
4.Understands how the principles of adult learning theories affect professional development
5.Facilitates vertical articulation of the respective content program
6.Collaborates with principal and school leadership/improvement teams
7.Identifies individual needs of teachers and aligns support to the identified needs
8.Collaborates with teams of teachers to support lesson planning and to facilitate the use of student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions
9.Model best teaching practices
10. Instructs small groups of students
11. Supports teachers, campus based coaches and administrators in disaggregating campus data to determine trends and target areas for improvement
12. Assists with planning, goal setting, and monitoring of strategic interventions
13. Supports campus leadership in goal setting, including assisting with District and campus instructional plans
14. Mentors new teachers in regard to the use of best practices and instructional resources
15. Builds capacity of campus teachers to effectively implement the District curriculum programs
16. Provides professional development in the effective use of District adopted textbooks, software, and other resource materials related to the District program
17. Attends District Content Coaches' meetings
18. Plans, delivers, and provides campus-based and district-wide professional development related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment, such as unpacking the standards, questioning strategies, engagement strategies, and creating aligned common assessments
19. Attends District grade-level profesional development to ensure implementation of best teaching practices and effectively supports teachers with implementation
20. Facilitates and supports the implementation of collaborative teacher teams, professional networking such as professional learning communities (plcs)
21. Commits to continued professional growth by participating in professional development, such as book studies, webinars, face-to-face workshops, and online training
22. Participates in professional organizations concerned with the teaching of the respective content area
23. Works collaboratively with the Director of respective content area to plan, implement, and evaluate department instructional goals and maintains frequent communication regarding campus support
24. Works collaboratively with other content and campus based coaches and campus personnel to promote the use of best practices in the respective content area instruction
25. Monitors student achievement by reviewing and analyzing formative and summative assessments including campus based assessments, District and state assessments

Qualification Requirements:

  • Knowledge of curriculum and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)

  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation

  • Knowledge of educational technology and 21st Century skills

  • Knowledge in effective teaching strategies, peer coaching and mentoring skills

  • Ability to work one-on-one with teachers as well as to oversee broader professional development effort in the school and district

  • Ability to use a variety of web-based communication tools

  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of this position; however, supervision of students is required.
