Responsibilities

The University of Akron is searching for an individual whose essential functions will be to: Maintain and help supervise, instructional labs, research labs, workshop, and supply rooms; Set up equipment for instructional labs; Work with faculty members to set up and maintain equipment, materials and instrumentation for research labs; Purchase, repair, maintain, and inventory all equipment, chemicals and supplies; Design, build, and repair equipment for research and teaching; Assist in supervision of laboratory teaching assistants.

A major function of the IRS manager is the support of introductory and general education physics lab courses which serve approximately 700 students per semester. This requires checking/troubleshooting equipment as necessary to ensure that all the labs run smoothly. In addition, the IRS manager will serve as building coordinator and play an active role in the Physics Departments' upcoming move into temporary space while its current building is being renovated, and, later, in its move to the renovated space.

Required Qualifications

The position requires an M.S. in physics, or related discipline and a minimum of two (2) years experience in research, electronics, and instrumentation. Computer skills/problem solving abilities for day-to-day maintenance of our departmental computer network and computer-related needs of faculty, staff and students are also required.

Preferred Qualifications

A working knowledge of PeopleSoft for UA departmental purchasing/requisitions and undergraduate lab teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities An opportunity exists for a motivated individual to lead this recently expanded office which will play an important role in supporting the university's new strategic planning process. Manage the analytics systems required to support informed decision-making. Supervise the activities of the professional staff charged with institutional reporting, institutional assessment, and data administration. Design, conduct, and analyze studies relating to the institutional mission, market positioning, enrollment management, retention, and matriculation effectiveness. Provide oversight of data integrity, quality assurance, and common data definitions for data administration. Responsible for accuracy and reliability of data collection. Coordinate all legally required and official external and internal data reporting for institutional reporting. This includes reports to state/federal and accrediting agencies, completion of external surveys, and regular periodic internal administrative ad hoc reporting. Required Qualifications Experience with predictive analytics, the use of key performance indicators (KPI's) and dashboards. Experience with Data Governance programs and frameworks in an academic setting. A minimum of six years progressively responsible administrative institutional research experience. Ability to systematically analyze complex issues and data. Exceptional understanding of institutional research, organizational dynamics, strategic planning, and complex financial reporting. Proficiency with a variety of data analytics and statistical systems and experience in accessing data from databases, data marts, and/or data warehouses. Relevant Master's degree. Preferred Qualifications Relevant doctoral degree.
