Instructional Reading Specialist - Lincoln Elementary School

Who We Are:

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Instructional Reading Specialist (K-6) at Lincoln Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. As a Instructional Reading Specialist you are required to:

• Current Ohio teaching certificate or licensure commensurate with position issued by the Ohio Department of Education

• Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred

• Elementary and/or reading specialist experience preferred

As a Instructional Reading Specialist you will:

• Utilize the practices that align with the Science of Reading and direct, explicit phonics instruction to improve student achievement

• Assist classroom teachers in the diagnosis of student needs and collaborate in planning appropriate instructional strategies

• Assesses students using a variety of measures to determine specific instructional needs and interventions

• Provide small group intervention instruction to K-6 students

• Monitor student progress using district approved tools and assessments

• Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to ensure equitable classroom management practices

• Collect, organize and disseminate data to improve literacy outcomes

• Performs other duties as assigned

What We Offer:

As a contracted employee, Instructional Reading Specialist work 183 days per year and 7.25 hours per day.

Starting salary is $42,957.00 with increases for additional education and experience.

The Instructional Reading Specialist position is grant funded and only available if funding is approved. Funding will be reviewed on an annual basis and is not guaranteed to continue each year. Incumbents will be notified annually on position availability for the next year.
