Digital Learning & Innovation's Instructional Production Services team is a group of professionals that enable DL&I to execute projects in the online/hybrid instructional space. The team provides professional services to the university in the area of instructional strategy and design that specializes on the online/hybrid modalities, project management for instructional projects, media and artifact planning and creation, media and course production. IPS also provides consultation services to educate faculty and staff to undertake the creation process on their own.The IPS team works on college, department, or faculty initiated projects, grant-funded initiatives, as well as special projects under the auspices of the DL&I Digital Education Incubator.
The manager of the IPS team is a leader who has demonstrated success in the building and management of multi-faceted teams. S/he is knowledgeable in the area of online/hybrid instructional strategies and has a proven record as a program/project manager in the instructional context of higher education, non-profit, or industry. As the program/project manager s/he has knowledge of the instructional design process as well as demonstrated experience with the actual production of instructional materials, from multi-media artifacts (audio, video, animations) to teaching and learning materials (learning objects).
The manager serves as the face of the unit to IPS's clients and represents the forward-looking direction of Digital Learning & Innovation, enabling innovative and transformative projects to succeed. Proven capacity in team building and project recruitment are required, as IPS's growth in significance and size directly relates to the unit's successes. S/he takes on the role of an entrepreneurial leader who jointly with the DL&I leadership develops the future of IPS through careful planning, proactive stakeholder management, flexibility, and diplomatic positioning within the complex environment of a large research university.
Team management, supervision, resource planning, and leadership. Strategic and tactical planning for development of the IPS team to meet project demands.
Program leadership, serving as project manager, interfacing with clients and staff in strategic online/hybrid modality instructional materials projects. This includes standards-based project documentation, client and vendor relationships, and evangelizing innovative and transformative approaches to instructional needs.
Providing community leadership in conjunction with the Center for Teaching and Learning, Educational Technology, and the Digital Education Incubator in the field of online/hybrid instruction.
Representation of DL&I and IPS in presentations, publishing, dissemination of knowledge and findings in interfacing organizations, conferences, and fora.
Desirable Qualities and Knowledge
The ideal candidate has
Knowledge of the online/hybrid instructional space, including online teaching and learning, MOOCs, and mixed modalities
Working knowledge of agile methodologies
Experience as an influencer and consensus builder
Strong passion to support the innovative and transformational work of Digital Learning & Innovation
Ability to work in the complex environment of a growing office in the shifting landscape of the institution and higher education
Flexibility, imagination, and creative problem solving
Demonstrated team building and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams
Proven program/project management success in the instructional context of higher education, non-profit, or industry
Applied knowledge of online/hybrid instructional space, instructional strategies and design frameworks (e.g. ADDIE, Quality Matters, OLC)
Demonstrated experience in instructional media and artifact planning and creation
5 - 8 years of experience with program/project management, preferably in the instructional context
Advanced oral and written communication skills
Master's Degree in a related field preferred
