JOB TITLE:

JOB PURPOSE: Collaborate with UW faculty and staff to produce instructional video and media content in support of educational initiatives to include multi-media production, graphic and motion design, writing and web development. Serve as resource and provide expertise for instructional media production across campus as well as educate faculty and staff on benefits of instructional media.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with Instructional Designers and Associate Director to ensure optimal outcomes for instructional media development.

  • Collaboratively guide Subject Matter Experts (SME) through the instructional media process.

  • Lead pre-production phase of storyboarding, script writing, asset identification, scheduling, faculty preparation, etc.

  • Lead production phase of camera operation, audio capture/recording, and other production positions and duties on multi- and single-camera videography recordings, in studio, on location/in classroom and/or remote productions.

  • Lead post-production phase to assemble and edit recorded media, and export in a variety of media formats.

  • Develop all products to meet industry standards including ADA 504 and 508 accessibility standards.

  • Use current web apps for developing, editing and deploying effective instructional media experiences.

  • Deploy media into digital learning environments and web-based platforms using video content management systems.

  • Prepare scripts, print documentation, website copy, process documentation, reports, and other creative/technical documentation as needed.

  • Proofread, edit, and make suggestions for digital and print media.

  • Create, modify and publish web-based content.

  • Ensure defined project scope, goals, schedules, and deliverables are met for each project. Report on project status.

  • Align assigned resources with stated priorities and manage Online & Digital Learning team collaboration.

  • Track media related budget processes and procedures.

  • Manage instructional media facilities, scheduling, upkeep, and operations.

  • Support continuous course improvement efforts by interpreting and implementing Quality Matters framework.

  • Conduct training and workshops related to multimedia design and deployment.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and will require the successful candidate to be available to work on campus. The position may eventually be eligible for remote work and/or a flexible work schedule.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in media production-related field

Experience: 2 years work-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required education, licensure, certification, registration, or other requirement: none

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Implementation and integration of new technologies into learning environments such as multi-media systems, cameras, sound systems, Internet, compressed video, software, digital media, and distance education technologies.

  • Computing hardware and software, and networking protocols, devices, and systems.

  • PC computing operating system(s) and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Instructional technology equipment usage including, but not limited to: studio, video, computer display, signal distribution, video recording/ playback cameras, camcorders, monitors, white boards, and audience response systems.

  • Interpersonal, verbal and written communication methods and techniques.

  • Training techniques and methods.

  • Applicable University, city, state, and federal rules, regulations and procedures.

  • Safety rules, methods and procedures.

  • Appropriate system troubleshooting and basic system repair methods and techniques.

  • Department mission and goals.

  • Audio and video principles and procedures.

  • HTML, web page creation, website maintenance.

  • Copyright regulations and privacy laws.

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Train others with varying levels of instruction technology understanding and usage on using and integrating new and current technologies into learning environments.

  • Interpret and convey technical information in an easy-to-understand format.

  • Research and assist with creation of project cost estimates including recommendations for expenditures on technology.

  • Update website.

  • Ability to utilize social media to distribute information.

  • Read, comprehend and apply technical information.

  • Work collaboratively with other information technology, instructional support and distance learning programs.

  • Work both independently and as part of a team with a professional, positive attitude.
