The University of Virginia is seeking an Instructional Media Designer/Developer to join our Human Resources team. A key member of the Talent Management Team, the Instructional Media Designer/Developer requires experience developing learning solutions, using a variety of traditional and electronic methods, including classroom training, virtual classes, eLearning, blended learning, and social media technologies, in individual, small, and large group settings.

The successful candidate will possess strong visual, web design, and user experience skills while maintaining a commitment to creativity and innovation in the area of learning and development.

Specific Experience and Expectations

eLearning

  • eLearning development experience a must

  • eLearning software proficiency (Articulate 360, Captivate, Camtasia or similar applications)

  • Storyboarding, creating imagery out of ideas, and presenting facts in an interesting way

  • A proven track record in developing high-quality learning content for adult learners in a university environment

  • Experience developing learning solutions, using a variety of traditional and electronic methods, including classroom training, virtual classes, eLearning training, blended learning, and social media technologies, in individual, small, and large group settings.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop interactive modules modeling technical click-throughs

  • Demonstrated experience using content management systems, learning management systems, and structured authoring tools

  • Demonstrated ability to develop interactive modules modeling technical click troughs.

Communication and Management

  • Maintains training content, coordinating and completing updates, revisions, and corrects errors as noted in collaboration with SMEs

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple stakeholder needs

  • Agile Management experience.

Visual Design and Media Development

  • Visual and artistic talents (Captivate, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint, or similar) Articulate Storyline (or similar), Camtasia, Photoshop and Illustrator)

  • Video editing expertise (Camtasia, or similar)

  • Maintains training content, coordinating and completing updates, revisions, and corrects errors as noted in collaboration with SMEs

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple stakeholder needs

  • Demonstrated experience using content management systems, learning management systems, and structured authoring tools

  • Curiosity and commitment to creativity, testing new ideas, and innovation in the area of learning and development.

Web Design, Digital Media Analysis, Planning, and Usability

  • Wireframe/layout a website or web application

  • Proficiency Photoshop, WordPress/Drupal. HTML and CSS

  • Ability to Measure UX in materials and eLearning

  • Ability to provide technical support

  • Use Analytics to Collect User Data.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Advanced degree with at least one year of experience in an exempt-level (professional) HR position, Bachelor's degree with at least two years of exempt-level experience, or a high school diploma with at least four years of exempt-level experience.
