We are recruiting Instructional Facilitator positions for school year 2024 -2025

(FOR CANDIDATE POOL)

Applicants will go through an initial interview process at the division level. Candidates selected by the division interview panel will be placed into a candidate pool and shared with school administrators. Selection of Instructional Facilitators will be a collaborative effort between the Office of Professional Learning and individual school administration. Candidates selected for these roles will be supervised by the Supervisor of Professional Learning in collaboration with building level administrators.

Pay Grade: Per Instructional Salary Scale Period of Employment: 11 months

Supervised by and/or Reports to: Director of Professional Learning/Building Administrator

General Responsibilities: Provide guidance and support to teachers and teams in the area of instructional planning and delivery across all content areas.

Essential Duties

  • Partners with teachers and administrators to ensure equitable learning opportunities for all students.

  • Serves as a leader and expert in the instructional planning process with a focus on using the instructional framework and alignment to standards.

  • Supports teachers in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, collaborative team planning sessions, modeled lessons, co-teaching, observing, co-planning, and coaching cycles.

  • Provides teachers with feedback and resources that will improve their practice and support the needs of their students.

  • Participates in and/or facilitates professional learning communities with the goal of improving and sustaining student achievement.

  • Empowers teams to engage in ongoing cycles that include unpacking standards, framing objectives, common assessments, data analysis, data-driven conversations, and curriculum planning.

  • Supports teams in the interpretation of ongoing assessment data to drive instructional decision making.

  • Collaborates with teachers to plan for differentiation, scaffolding, and inclusive instruction.

  • Remains current with educational trends and techniques to determine the best ways to support teachers in the planning/delivery of instruction.

  • Leverages division resources, educational models, teaching methods and strategies that ensure access for all learners.

  • Promotes and sustains collaborative relationships with teachers, specialists, supervisors, and administrators through effective communication.

  • Serves as a liaison between the Office of Professional Learning, schools, colleagues, and other departments/administrative offices (i.e. Student Achievement, Accountability, Student Services) to ensure alignment and effective implementation of key priorities throughout the division.

  • Supports the MCPS Professional Learning Plan by designing, facilitating, refining, and evaluating ongoing professional learning based on school needs and division priorities.

  • Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

  • Maintains confidentiality in professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, administrators, and community members.

  • Completes paperwork consistently, appropriately and in a timely manner.

  • Models being a lifelong learner by participating in professional learning opportunities that are aligned to the goals of this position.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Leadership skills that will promote successful collaboration with administrators, teachers, and the school community.

  • Knowledge of current research and best practices in instructional planning, implementation, and data analysis.

  • Knowledge of adult learning practices and experience in designing and delivering effective professional learning opportunities.

  • Skilled at leading the work of collaborative learning teams within a professional learning community.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.

  • Consistently models professionalism in all settings.

  • Committed to personal professional development and growth.

  • Strong written, interpersonal, collaborative, speaking and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to resolve conflict and appropriately respond to concerns in a timely manner.

Requisite Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of five years teaching experience and is recognized as an exemplary classroom. teacher that utilizes effective instructional strategies.

  • Must possess or be eligible for a valid Virginia Teaching License.

  • Experience in leading teams of teachers and facilitating adult learning.

  • Experience in designing and delivering effective professional learning activities at the district, school, and classroom levels.
